Re: 1

Thanks for correcting (And sorry for the bad english) It's easy to get mixed up. It took me a while to figure out all the components of Mac OS X, too, since I haven't used one since the System 7 days. By the way, your English isn't that bad. It's more readable than the average American text message...

...I still think someone should take this to another level and build an open-source Mac OS X out of this. But Mac OS X uses FreeBSD as core :P Darwin is based on FreeBSD and NeXTSTEP, and is pretty much the core of Mac OS X that everything else is built upon. The reason it can't run Mac OS X progra...

Re: Cairo Shell

horrible .NET bloat, they should rewrite it in QT4 (king of toolkits) then it can be considered for explorer. The issue is that it's not written in C/C++, and we also want to stick with a Windows 2000/XP-based Explorer. Cairo couldn't be the default GUI because it doesn't meet the interface guideli...

Re: Cairo Shell

A bit of clarity: Cairoshell was indeed closed source software, but they released the source code under the GPL license. The website at github is out of date. The team over at Element Software have been working on builds which implement missing features in Cairo. The latest build out is at (M3) : h...

Re: Window XP theme

What about the Plastik theme for XP? It's GPL'ed and I have made a quick hack to "brand" it with ReactOS... I'll post a screenshot asap EDIT: http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/5917/rosplastik.png http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/5917/rosplastik.png EDIT2: I'm going to start work on an ...

Re: Cairo Shell

I suggest that reactos has an option in the control panel that allows to activate a group of icons from a list, similar to the change of icons in abyword, it could have the tango icons, cairo and other, we select one of the list and reactos it changes its appearance. Well, actually, you can choose ...

Re: Angelus' Wallpapers

There's an update in my set of wallpapers. There're two new versions In the ReactOS7 wallpaper section: blue and green ones. I've added a new one in the Sea series (Sea4 wallpaper), and I've started a new set called Sky series. Those are some really good photos. Did you take them yourself? Thank yo...

Re: Reactos on Youtube

Well, if Flash is that much of an issue, in a year or two we should expect HTML5 to become more widespread, so don't panic.

Re: We Should Add Additional Project Content to the Homepage

Yeah, I didn't even know about the CIA page myself until a few months ago when someone posted a link in the forums, and even then it took me a week to find it outside of that link. Another reason to have source activity on the home page.

That sucks. Cairo was looking like it might have some cool design concepts. Like a version of Gnome for Windows.

The new website doesn't mention anything about Cairo being open-source. Any links to an updated source?

Re: We Should Add Additional Project Content to the Homepage

Personally I have never used RSS and most of the people I know if I mentioned RSS would tell me "What's RSS?". Another point is where is this RSS feed? Is there anything pointing to it's existence? I have no idea where it is. Browse to the development page (left upper-navigation menu) onc...

It'll be a sad day when ACPI is finally up and running and we won't see the goofy shutdown messages anymore. :P

I also agree that source activity on the homepage would be good. ReactOS has worked with Haiku in the past, so there's no point in taking a hint from friends.

Re: Hidden files.

"Hidden files" is just a way of Microsoft telling you that it's not smart to fool around with the OS files. Most of us power users ignore it anyway. ReactOS leans more towards power users, so it doesn't have that option. The GUI would probably have to get fixed before even considering inte...
