Re: Win32 server idea

In some way, that's how I thought to do arwinss: make it running in Windows and test that part in Windows. But it's not really that easily possible. Also, what you just said, requires a perfectly working networking stack. And our stack is far from that state. networking stack? this is why NTLPC exi...

Re: Win32 server idea

What you describe above looks exactly how nt3 win32 subsystem was designed. All the subsystem lived inside csrss and every application used NTLPC which is really lightweight and fast to communicate with the win32 server. And in order to make csrss respond faster to lpc calls , csrss created one thre...

Re: Arwinss : Alternative names + logo request

As fireball declared, X11 is the worst part of WINE's architecture. Gui server haven't serious speed problems. Look for BeOS for example. This is incorrect. In NT3 version of windows the whole windows sever lived in csrss but it was decided that such an approach has serious speed problems and that'...

Many open source projects use an animal for name or logo. I took the idea for the name from TortoiseSvn

Re: Latest Arwinss ISO's

I'm working on developing the memory corruption detector (heap corruptions seems to be a real problem now), so there will be no new arwinss ISO for a few days. Once this work is done, it should greatly contribute to the overall system stability. you also forgot to mention that we are busy with the ...

Re: WineOS?

hehe, but seriously arwinss is a codename and was not intended for a really wide public usage. As for a real name... I don't have any good ideas, do you? ;) As for vodka and everclear, that's a bit.. extreme. I like the name everclear. Why is it extreme :?: Edit: another idea is to call it raki. It...

Re: Is it possible to have ROS boot in textmode

I am testing ReactOS on real hardware and i have discovered that textmode setup works fine on my PC but normal boot crashes, and i suspect my video driver so i wanted to test booting in textmode so i can at least get a debug log, how would i modify reactos to use a pure textmode boot not the graphi...

Re: Mono in ROS - 3.12

hi there! thanks for testing! aparently mono used to run in reactos in the past however it is possible that it has regressed. Before one year or so it showed a message saying that it got an error from VirtuaQuery and exited. After a fix in memory manager this dissapeared and running very simple prog...
