Maybe the Scrolling Game Development Kit (http://gamedev.sourceforge.net/) is a good start. It is Open Source and it allows to write a sidescrolling game without any coding (only VB scripts)!
I haven't tested it yet, but I'll do it as soon as ROS svn will build again.

Sorry for being OT, but I think this has to be said: ... I installed windows server 2003 on my PC (best windows ever. I hate XP!). warezed version of course (Enterprise Edition is something like $3000), and I'm going to try that :) ... It is up to you to use a "warezed" version of Windows, but I don...

A solution may be a little program, wich can do fast user switching with account and password in the commandline. You put it in your quicklaunch and ready. Only one click! But it isn't very secure, I think... I am not sure, if user switching can be done via API calls. If yes, it should be pretty eas...

If I understood right, you want to use the 4 virtual desktop with 4 different users. This might be a problem, because the shell (explorer.exe), wich manages the 4 desktops, is loadad after user logon, I think. So it is restricted to one user. But there's still fast user switching. On XP push <Win>+"...

What if you put the stuff needed by both filemanager and shell into a dll? I'm not sure, but am I right: This will be loaded into memory only once, can even be used by other apps and does not crash if explorer crashes (?)

Suggestion: "codec" system

in Windows you have codecs for WfW and DirectShow filter. The first ones appear in a list, the second ones: I don't know where (dxdiag, maybe). I think reactOS should have a Codec-Manager (maybe a category in the Package manager) where you can see installed codes and remove them if no longer needed....

My idea is the following: A side and top/bottom scrolling jump n run. Maybe Reacty as the main character. His task is to clear computers from viruses, worms, trojans and bugs. - Every level is build of one or more sub levels, wich represent the parts of a computer system (fdd, hdd, cd, ram, etc.) - ...

Hab da gerade (einige posts zurück) die SVN-Anleitung gelesen. Klingt irgendwie kompliziert mit PATH Variable und so. Ich empfehle TortoiseSVN. Ist eine explorer shell-extension. 1.) Downloaden http://www.oscg.ch/rsc/tools/standalone/tortoisesvn.html 2.) Installieren (ist ein MSI file) 3.) Pfad anle...

Heavy ReactOS-Accident near SourceForge

After having compiler warnings in ReactOS at SourceForge since several Revisions, now a fatal exception error occured. Uncompiled sources stated, that an SVN checkout caused a function overloading, wich led to a kernel-meltdown. GCC already registered excessive integer values in the development envi...

ros shell and filemanager in one program?

First I think, that explorer.exe does not really seem a good name, because people may associate explorer.exe with a lot of bugs, security problems and "Fatal exception error in module explorer.exe..." or something like that. So maybe rosexplorer may be a little better. But that is not the point. I h...

ros security and registry

I have thought about some problems concerning the windows security and registry, wich should be made better in reactos and possible solutions: 1.) Administrator rights Problem: Many apps (cd burning etc.) need administor rights to work properly. This makes many people to always work with administrat...

To really start working with ROS, I need the following: 1.) driver support - network is a must - usb would be nice (I don't have usb keyb/mouse, but others do...) - graphics (may speed up the ui a little) - sound (I#d really like to hear something in ROS) (I don't need PnP now) 2.) App compatiblity!...

question about double files / folders

Hi, looking at the source, I found out, that there are several files multiple times in different folders. For example qsort.c is there 3 times.: - lib\crt\stdlib - lib\crtdll\stdlib - lib\rosrtl\misc All of them are different. And all of them seem to be needed. Can anyone tell me why there are folde...
