Re: Activity summary

Great work, b4dc0d3r. These summaries are really informative. Does the wiki have this kind of information?

Re: ReactOS versions

At this point in development, ReactOS isn't stable enough to consider different versions. Being an open-source project, branching and distros will be inevitable if ReactOS becomes stable enough for everyday use, but not quite yet.

Re: Elementary questions!

I believe you have to set the USB to something like "legacy mode" which makes the OS think that the USB mouse and keyboard are really connected in the PS/2 ports. Feel free to correct me on this.

Re: Strange thing while ARWINSS installation

sorry for posting log here. I managed to put it in bugzilla. Slowly, very slowly, i understand how things and people work together here... Don't worry, it takes a little getting used to. I just learned how to do a bug report less than a year ago, and I've been dabbling with ReactOS since 2006 or so...

Re: Pronounciation of "OS" in "ReactOS"

I always say it like "React OS", pronouncing the O and S like the letters. In any of the official videos I've never seen anyone pronounce it as a single word, i.e., "reactos".

Re: How do i emulate ReactOS on Windows 7

I made a tutorial on debugging a while back. Ignore the stuff about com0com and serial ports and you can get an idea of how to run ReactOS under VirtualBox.

Re: 32-bit proper OS/2 subsystem

Hey, v_2samg, I was poking around the ReactOS wiki and found this information on planning for the OS/2 subsystem. Looks like someone thinks like you do.

Re: BIG REQUEST: Donate for USB !

If the team did want to have donation targets, it wouldn't necessarily have to be USB. Sure, USB is a big leap, but if there's some other, minor, feature in ReactOS that the devs know could be finished with a few weeks' work, then that would be a feasible target. The Community Funded Ideas page tell...

True, but the average user probably doesn't understand the error messages. Other people don't all know about the innards of Windows.

Re: Very Nice but i have a few question

I think I remember hearing on the mailing lists or something about if the interface were fixed then ext2 could be implemented rather quickly. I'd have to double-check to be sure. ext3 already works in arty-newcc branch but it isn't ready to be merged to trunk right now. Cool. Thanks for correcting ...

Re: Reactos web pages go to bluescreen?

The sad thing is that the ReactOS website bluescreen is more informative than the one actually in Windows.

Re: Very Nice but i have a few question

ReactOS will support ext3 and other file systems. ReactOS uses FAT32 right now, but NTFS is the long-term focus right now since it's the native filesystem for Windows NT. If I remember correctly, the interface that ReactOS uses to interact with filesystems is basically hacked together, so it needs t...

Re: 32-bit proper OS/2 subsystem

While the OS/2 subsystem is a component of Windows NT, the fact is that most programs don't use it. There are tons of other components that are more important, such as USB support and Win32, so I'm doubtful that anyone will tackle the OS/2 subsystem anytime soon. That being said, if anyone did want ...

Re: BIG REQUEST: Donate for USB !

It might not necessarily be a bad idea to get people to focus donations on a specific piece of functionality. There's the Donate button on the home page, but letting people know that it's going to be used towards something specific (such as USB) might be an asset. Posting a "Current Donation Target"...
