Re: development of gnome in reactos

I'm not familiar with Cygnome, so I don't know how much progress they made in bringing Gnome to Windows. All the info I see on Google is spotty. In regards to GreenGnome,it's basically just a UI for Windows, rather than an actual port of Gnome into Windows. Gnome is cross-platform, but I've only see...

ReactOS is in development longer than Duke Nukem Forever. But it will be completed. Eventually. lol

Re: We choose to go to ReactOS 1.0

Well, if it takes us until 2019, then it will only have taken us 23 years to hit 1.0. What's even more sad is that a year later Microsoft will still be supporting an OS it released in 2001. Anyone know how long they're supporting IE6? lol ...And when that day comes, and I burn that 1.0 disk... "That...

Re: Screenshots (works in progress)

Indeed. I find that when I receive feedback that a majority of individuals provide only simplistic concepts and do not elaborate on to what they find distasteful, in error or problematic about what it is they see of my work. :)~ Here is another (Website) proposal / screenshot. http://www.fatalfew.c...

Re: media centre

Well, XBMC does most of the stuff that Windows Media Center can do. There is a Windows version which works pretty well. ReactOS should eventually run the Windows version, just like any other piece of Windows software. Even Windows Media Center is nothing more than an application, though ReactOS can'...

Re: Reactos should able to run even linux application

Asking for Linux applications to run in ReactOS is kind of a moot point. it's out of the scope of this project. Firefox for Windows isn't a Linux app. Firefox.exe won't run in Linux unless I'm running Wine, which tricks the code into thinking it's in Windows. Firefox on Linux will likely look like f...

Re: Surprise #1: Countdown has began

I'm not sure if having forums on both MyReactOS and the ReactOS website separately is a good idea (seems redundant), but having a centralized spot for up-to-date ReactOS news is pretty neat. Vicmarcal's Spanish blog seems to be updated regularly (though I don't read it much since I can't understand ...

Re: Is ReactOS living in AMD64 now? Just boot to desktop?

if you want to leave your poorer comrades behind because they can't afford to get a 64-bit processor and you insist on moving forward with new technology, you're free to build it yourself. Agreed. Except for my main machine, which I won't run ReactOS on anytime soon, all my machines are still x86. ...

Re: Activity summary

Why dont you try yourself? load VBox and a Trunk ISO ;-). Personally, I haven't been able to get trunk to work in VirtualBox for a number of months. Installation goes through, but ReactOS refuses to start. Which sucks, because I had the urge to jump back in the compatibility testing game again. :|

Re: Debugging for Beginners in Windows and VirtualBox

Hi, com0com is a program for the windows host, on which virtualbox is running, is it? What do when virtualbox is running on a linux host? Personally, I've never tried debugging on Linux, since I use Windows as my primary OS and I run into problems when I do use Linux on my computer. I know other us...

Re: Hardware drivers must be fixed

EmuandCo's response was kind of blunt, though not surprising because these kinds of postings are somewhat common and it can get somewhat frustrating when people ask the same questions over and over again with no information to work off of. Saying that something isn't working on your computer under R...

Thanks for the update. Seems Arwinss gets all the attention, we never hear much about Yarotows. :P

Re: keep react os free from linux keep as NT much as possibl

Looks like the conversation's getting a little confused. ReactOS is based of of the Windows NT architecture. It's an open-source clone of Windows NT, similar to how Linux is an open-source clone of UNIX. If you're not familiar with Windows history, Windows 3.11, Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows M...

Re: to win over general public

1. Welcome to the ReactOS community! 2. This part of the site might steer you in the right direction: http://www.reactos.org/en/dev_start.html . I admit that I haven't been very involved lately (college keeps me too busy nowadays), but I got started doing software testing for the compatibility datab...
