Re: third party UEFI bootloader apply iin ROS?

Developer´s answer (mjg59) :
Shim will chainload any signed EFI executable, so if ReactOS and Haiku have UEFI bootloaders then you should be able to sign them, enroll a key with this shim and boot them appropriately.
Any volunteers testers? I don´t have a machine with UEFI, just with old BIOS.

Re: Can ReactOS install Internet Explorer 6?

ReactOS is for running applications that people want or need to run on it. IE6 is a well-known piece of software required for many reasons that we don't have to go into here - everyone has their own reasons for running any software or even ReactOS itself. I have many pieces of obsolete software tha...

third party UEFI bootloader apply iin ROS?

Could this UEFI bootloader be used or even included in ReactOS? https://mjg59.dreamwidth.org/20303.html I'm pleased to say that a usable version of shim is now available for download. As I discussed here, this is intended for distributions that want to support secure boot but don't want to deal with...

Re: Can ReactOS install Internet Explorer 6?

For what purpose is Internet Explorer 6 needed? Just testing curiosity or there still are a lot of webpages IE-only? Could Internet Explorer 7 or 8 be a better choice than IE 6? And ROS own Internet Explorer? It seems that in WINE is a bit problematic, but it seems to work: https://appdb.winehq.org/...

Re: Win16 quest support in ReactOS

Again from Alexandre Julliard: > Thanks for the explanation. > I contact you now to know what advices could you give to ReactOS developers about including Win16 support in x86 ReactOS and (working in progress) 64 bits ReactOS port. > ReactOS has now a NTVDM to run DOS applications, but not Win16 sup...

Re: Win16 quest support in ReactOS

ReactOS NTVDM implementation pretends to be architecture-independant by using CPU emulation, which means it will run both DOS and 16-bit Windows 3.x applications on any architecture ReactOS is ported to. Impressive! Thanks Aleksandar Andrejevic for his work. We expect some day ROS NTVDM will be ful...

Alexandre Julliard answer: > Is there a "wrapper" of Win16 functions around Win32 functions , using > "library-stub" or something, which could redirect a 16-bit calls in > 32-bit in WINE? The wrappers are generated by the winebuild program, based on the entry point specifications found in the .spec ...

Re: Win16 quest support in ReactOS

In my opinion, it would be faster to implement a "wrapper" of win16 functions around win32 functions. This requires "library-stub", which could redirect a 16-bit calls in 32-bit. Thus, there will be some "analogue" NTVDM, but for applications win16. Does WINE already has something like this wrapper...

For who want to use portable edition of LibreOffice under ReactOS, the last for Windows XP is (the only place where I can find it): https://sourceforge.net/projects/portableapps/files/LibreOffice%20Portable/ Until LibreOffice 6.x will be usable under ROS, using compatibility layer + some OS new APIs...

Re: drivers to get AHCI support in ReactOS

Legal: Even with ROS being compatible with the drivers, we can't integrate them in official releases due not having the proper redistributable licenses from these IHVs for them. Licenses bundled in these packages is tailored only for users downloading that code from the hardware manufacturer page, ...

Win16 quest support in ReactOS

Is it convenient that NTVDM should have Win16 support or that ROS itself should have something like ' wowexec' Windows NT Win16 application launcher ? What about supporting Win16 applications in 64 bits port? Only 64 bits NTVDM with Win16 support could be the answer to run Win16 under Win64 ROS? Oth...
