Re: Disable "Drag and Drop" option

ReactOS's design target is Microsoft Windows 2003, which is very similar to Microsoft Windows XP. Yes, I know, I meant "there is an option in ReactOS or Windows XP to make that and if yes where is it ?". But you answer me with your URLs (There is no option but with thresholds in register keys, you ...

Disable "Drag and Drop" option

Hi,
Is there an option to disable the Drag and Drop in the Explorer ?
If not it will be good to implement one to reduce the mistakes with the mouse.

I hope ReactOS would have a sandbox for Win16 and DOS applications.
If there is a sandbox by default, the compatibility will be decreased. But if there is an option why not ?
But for the moment, the main goal is stability and compatibility with XP/2003 and this kind of thing is not the priority.

Re: Installer GUI

The installer GUI is enough, when the system is install you never see it again, no need to change it for the moment. But it's true it look like old fashion, an GUI installation in the live CD will be good. For the OS GUI, there are already a theme like Win7/Vista and a new one more like Aero/Win10 w...

NT6 compatibility is inevitable and a desire toward compatibility is good. It might however result in ReactOS adopting NT6 style functionality in other areas[...]
But it will be good to support drivers from NT6 too, to improve the hardware compatibility and fix some problem with NT6 softwares.

Re: Governments Partnership ?

Why dangerous, it's open source no matter what they do, and if it's only financial partnership it's good and not risky at all ? Suppose that Reactos is associated with a government, and this by financing the project wants to close the public because is paying a large sum of money for changes, what ...

Re: Windows 8 desktop theme

In the future release, there is a new theme near from Win8 theme, named "Modern".
For the start menu, I think start8 or Classic Shell (maybe an old release) can make the change, if the application works.

"EXTRA unstable release" = "daily build"
and it's only for developer tests:

When a feature is stable, it's add in the future official release:

Re: Target Kernel

Search the forum for NT6 compatibility before posting. I read the forum very often, I know ReactOS is compatible with NT6 (I said in my previous post : "currently the target is NT5 and there is a upper compatibility layer for NT6+"). But I spoke about the target of the ReactOS is NT5 by default, th...

Target Kernel

Hello,
currently the target is NT5 and there is a upper compatibility layer for NT6+.
But in the future, this target would be change or stay like that ?
I think it will be better to made the reverse, target NT6.2/NT10, but keep a subsystem or compatibility layer for previous kernels and drivers.

I think you meant, "not a Linux alternative by nature," on the end, since ReactOS is no more an alternative for Linux than Windows.
Exactly. Sorry if I'm not always clear, English is not my native language.

No, it's a joke of course. ;-)

It's just the Dr Watson application detected like virus but it's a false positive.

For the moment it's always in development but it will be a Windows alternative ...
