Re: EPIC WIN!

Retro City Rampage 486 for MS-DOS works like a charm.

Tested in VirtualBox with the latest install CD.

I just thought it was interesting because that is a new commercial DOS game.

By the way, I made an install floppy image to test it with.

ReactOS's Documentation

Probably a dumb question, but where can I find ReactOS's documentation on Windows?

Possibilities For NTVDM and other Sub-Systems

What are the possibilities for improvements for/additions to NTVDM and other Sub-Systems for the ReactOS project. I ask because I'm curious in ReactOS's future capabilities.

Anyone tested Open Watcom C Compiler?

Has anyone tested the Open Watcom C compiler (DOS and Windows) in ReactOS? I ask because I am in the process of making a concept for a GPLv3 open source game that I want to port to both FreeDOS and ReactOS, and I want it to be able to compile on both OSes. So if you tested it I would like to know an...

Re: EPIC WIN!

Open Mortal 0.7.1 (the last version of a dead unfinished open source clone of Mortal Kombat) works. Which is weird considering it won't work on Windows 8.1 or Windows 10. ReactOS for the win in that case.

Tested in VirtualBox with the lastest LiveCD.

Not sure if this is the place, but...

I just wanted to thank the ReactOS moderators and community for their kindness and help with ReactOS and the site. If it weren't for you guys I would of lost interest a long time ago. You guys are part of what makes this project so interesting to me.

Re: Programming Software for ReactOS (Windows 2003)...

The answer seems pretty simple: make your program work for Windows 2003. That is, use the good old Win32 API; don't use desktop management API (DWM) nor Advanced theming API nor metro stuff; don't require too recent versions of DirectX (if you are doing game programming); don't rely on too recent v...

Programming Software for ReactOS (Windows 2003)...

I know that since ReactOS is based on Windows 2003 some software programmed for Windows 10 may not work with it. How can one make software to work with both Windows 10 and ReactOS. I'm pretty good with Windows 10 programming, but I didn't start programming until Windows 7.

Has anyone tested assemblers...

Has anyone tested assemblers meant to compile to DOS/Windows in ReactOS? If so, do they work? Finally, how well do they work. I don't know why I thought of it; I guess I just noticed a lack of assemblers in the ReactOS Application Manager's online app downloader/installer.

Re: EPIC WIN!

I got the GOG installer to startup and even managed to install and start Earthworm Jim 3D for PC. However Earthworm Jim 3D wouldn't run, just a black screen. But since the GOG installer used to freeze I think this counts.

Re: ReactOS VM...

It's not recommended in it's current state. If you do, it is on your own risk then. What do you use your PC for? I also wonder if any Windows malware work on ReactOS. I have been in the AV industry for many years now, so I could gather some malware samples and test it out. I know some AVs are worki...

ReactOS VM...

I got a lot of adware from browsing the web that I just removed, and it got me thinking, is there any reason why I can't use ReactOS in its current state as a replacement VM for Windows to keep my PC safer from adware while browsing the web.
