Does testing if software works help ReactOS?

I want to help with ROS, but I'm not skilled enough to program and I don't have the cash to donate. I instead test software and report them to the epic win topic. I try to make sure it can at least do a couple of basic functions before reporting, but I don't have much time to run a better test than ...

Re: EPIC WIN!

Normally when people post in here, the minimal requirements for making a post is if the program even starts at all. Programs that can't perform their basic functionality are fine to post, but make sure you actually say what you found the program can and cannot do. It's quite aggravating when someon...

Can you define working, and to what extent?

Re: EPIC WIN!

FreeDOS only works from a VHD, true. Same goes for that case on DosBOX and all other VMs. FreeDOS needs its bootloader and everything coming after it to work. No I'm saying that I couldn't get FreeDOS to install on an empty VHD within ReactOS so I had to make one in VirtualBox with FreeDOS installe...

I only got a premade vhd to work and judging by the picture it doesn't work perfectly. However, Fuzoma works perfectly except for the mouse. I can also install Fuzoma without a vhd.

Re: Was the DOSLoader ever stable?

There is no support for CD drive emulation (and therefore, for CD images) in NTVDM. You can either try to install FreeDOS from diskette images, or install FreeDOS in a (fixed-size) vhd by using for example Virtual PC or VBox, and then, mount this vhd in NTVDM and boot the installed FreeDOS. Thanks....

For what? Where do you want to use it?
I'm trying to test FreeDOS in the NTVDM. FreeDOS just has a boot floppy. Also I'm still trying to test the old DOSLoader/LoadROS.

Re: Is it possible to create a ReactOS Install Floppy?

3711 * 1.44 MB = 5.34 GB I'm I missing something; a backup disk would be 4 gb, but all of these have to be bootable which means each and every one of them needs those files which makes them bootable. So I could see that working. Why must they all be bootable? You only actually boot to the first one...

Re: Pros and Cons of Building Your Own Boot Disk

Thanks, but I'm having trouble with the actual build environment (RosBE 2.1.3). OK, so what problem(s) are you having? Nobodies going to be able to help if you don't say what you're going, what you expect to happen, and what actually is happening. Also sorry it took so long to respond been too busy...

Re: Was the DOSLoader ever stable?

By the way, what is wrong with using a vhd made with windows manage tool? I have a windows pc I could transfer files from. If by "windows manage tool", you mean the same thing that hbelusca & I were referring to when I said "diskmgmt.msc" & he said "the diskmgmt&quo...

Re: What to do if I report a post due to hardware glitch?

This probably belongs in the web page category. If you catch yourself where you are not supposed to be, try to back out of it. Now if by odd chance you do accidentally report someone or their post, I'd guess you should try sending a PM to Z98 or maybe Emuandco, explaining what happened. Sorry I'm n...

Re: Was the DOSLoader ever stable?

In CORE-10331 : 1- Create a flat .vhd HDD image file by hand, with available 3rd-party tools (this is trivial to do when you use windows 7+), big enough to hold a complete MS-DOS installation (plus few programs?). Is there any reason a vhd created with qemu-img.exe's "create" command and ...
