Can I download ReactOS 0.4.9 and update the 0.4.7 USB Vgal build? Using the option in the installer?
Of course, you can update your ReactOS installation.

But after the update it would not be Vgal build anymore, since the update process replaces all system files and drivers.

Re: Trying the self compile, but takes forever

I tried leaving the laptop alone a couple of hours executing the configure.cmd but there is no result, in windows xp it takes about 30 minutes and then the output-MinGW-i386 folder is created, but in my case I cannot reach that step, maybe I am doing something wrong, give me a hand please. Re: ReactOS Download Question

I got VirtualBox installed a while ago and am going to use this page I think to walk me through the process of adding ReactOS to the VM. https://journal.nearbennett.com/2008/05/13/installing-reactos-on-virtualbox/ But there are a bunch of pages and YouTube videos that will walk you through it. I do...

and the Penguin game got sound but with some lag or distortions some times (might be because the laptop is so slow).
I think it's a known bug in portcls.sys - CORE-13490.

What is this 'screen' mode doing?
This mode enables kernel debugger and allows it to use your screen as output.

Re: Internet Conection on Virtual PC

Keep track on this issue: CORE-14028

Workaround - add 8.8.8.8 (or any other public DNS) as a primary DNS server.

Re: Project Install ReactOS 4.9 on a ThinkPad T23 instead of WindowsXP

1. Download XP driver for your network card
2. Burn driver files into CD
3. ...
4. PROFIT!!! :D

After that you'll probably be able to transfer all other files over network.

I've reported it to JIRA this morning, hopefully it will be attended sometime soon.
Before creating bug reports in JIRA you should read this: https://reactos.org/wiki/File_Bugs

Re: Raspberry Pi Support

And EXACTLY WHAT will you do with an ARM port? - ReactOS is only an OS, not a "suite of apps"! So will you then handle compiling everything on ARM by yourself, from Firefox to LibreOffice? It "sounds nice", but is entirely pointless in a greater perspective right now. Windows 10 on ARM uses emulati...

I am suspicious because the survey web page is not located at naist.jp (Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Japan) or any of its subdomains.
It's normal practice to use Google Forms for such things as pools.

I'm not sure this is assert problem, it's rather a bug in the kernel debugger.
