Support for graphics drivers is still incomplete. You can check on this list if your graphics chip has been tested.
https://reactos.org/wiki/Supported_Hardware/Video_cards
It would be good if you list the make and model of your computer people maybe able to help you more.

Re: Graphics driver development
I think creating a gallium winsys driver is the way to go you would be able support multiple graphics cards already supported by MESA3D on Linux. It's already been proven this is technically possible since VMWARE has created a gallium winsys driver for windows sadly the driver it's self is closed so...

Re: Must ReactOS fear a Microsoft change to NTFS?
You make an interesting assertion, Zombiedeth. Perhaps chkdsk changed. For instance if you run chkdsk in windows 8 on a windows 10 drive you will get numerous errors primarily errors about reparse points. And from windows xp to windows 7 you will get similar errors to a lesser extent so they are do...

There have been numerous changes guess you have never tried running a chkdsk from older versions of windows to a newer windows os install.erkinalp wrote:NTFS is now feature-complete. No changes has been made since Windows 2000 era, NTFS version 3.

a question about the new ReactOS 0.4.8 release
I was wondering what this means what games were fixed?
Code: Select all
In 0.4.7, several games were having trouble initializing properly when using native graphics drivers. Jérome has not just fixed this issue but also a palette regression in DirectX which was garbling colors when playing games.

Re: How To: Install ReactOS on REAL Hardware
Did you have any luck getting video drivers to work?
I wonder because afaik no one has succeeded in getting any integrated video chipsets working on ReactOS when using native drivers.
I suspect it could have something to do these chipsets making use of system ram instead of dedicated ram.

Re: The Skeptic Springs Eternal...
Well it's really not too different then the situation with Linux a few decades ago. It duplicated the functionality of commercial Unix and is now the dominant Unix OS. Similarly i believe the same will happen with windows with much teeth gnashing and lawsuits ect. But the difference is Linux has alr...

Re: My specific reasons for wanting ReactOS:
- wouldn't hide important details about software or hardware failures.
a good example of this would be if the software registry hive is corrupted can't be loaded due to the hard drive being faulty and yet windows 10 says nothing about being unable to load it.

Re: Lenovo T60
Reactos built in driver support is very limited to the very basics. Things like hdd controller, vga / vesa video, ac97 sound, hd Audio (experimental, incomplete), old Realtek RTL8139 NIC, and a few other old NIC's. so pretty much any drivers needed will need to be found on the net and installed manua...

Re: My specific reasons for wanting ReactOS:
A clean install of XP with all unnecessary hardware removed - on a fast drive should take no more than say, 15-20 mins, 30 mins at the outside? A similar install of ReactOS will take no more than 10mins? Can we say this with some certainty? Or is it too early to do so? I suppose an install time tha...

Re: NEC Powermate VL280 CORE 2 DUO DESKTOP
The biggest holdup really is USB drivers once they are stable and feature complete should be able to see ReactOS booting on many more systems. I have booted it on a number of systems for a few years now but the key thing is they all have ps/2 keyboard and mouse some of them even being only a few yea...
