Re: Is UEFI nessisary for ReactOS? Otherwise lets support it.

The system would have be a 32bit UEFI and secureboot would have to be disabled if that criteria is met maybe it would boot.

Re: updating the reactOS

Not yet much more pressing features that still need work. It's still an incomplete OS not meant for daily use.

Re: The driver dilemma

I like the idea of MESA3d winsys Layer too it would be a good long term solution unlike proprietary drivers that microsoft wants to change every few years. The problem is unless there was money on the table i don't think anyone is going to come forward and write the code for it. Maybe something like...

Re: The driver dilemma

My loosely proposed system is likely less complex than the alternatives to do similar. Imagine needing some bulky compatibility layer that's emulating the kernel environment for every Windows driver. And quite a few have thrown out worse ideas such as being able to use Linux drivers, presumably alo...

Re: The driver dilemma

I wonder though will ReactOS be able to support multiple driver versions seems like even microsoft couldn't manage it properly. If you tried to use drivers for a previous version of windows they would often be buggy. For ReactOS it seems like it would be even more of a hurdle since it would be a old...

Re: The driver dilemma

The problem is worse then that you can't get windows 7 or 8 motherboard drivers for brand new hardware. But have to see first and for most if ReactOS can complete XP driver compatibility. Trying to do xp and 7 driver compatibility just seems like it would become a mess

Re: Problems booting ReactOS from Grub

Julcar wrote: Fri Aug 10, 2018 3:25 pm Hdausbus is a recurrent problem, just boot from windows and delete that file, Reactos should boot now
I feel like this driver shouldn't be part of the default install maybe in an experimental folder where people can install it manually if they want to test it.

Re: 64bit ReactOS Availability (Latest Firefox + Wine 64)

Are you sure about there being dual architecture EFI?
From everything i have read they are 32bit or 64bit not both.

Re: Driver not found.

Probably worth filing a bug report separately for both of these issues.

Question though does the BSOD occur on shutdown before any drivers are installed?

Re: Driver not found.

pretty sure ReactOS has a ACPI driver included. Is the OS still able to boot, if so post a image of device manager what drivers it still needs. if it doesn't boot probably one of the drivers is at fault maybe a feature not yet implemented. I would try to reinstall Reactos install each driver one at ...

Re: Driver not found.

That notebook doesn't seem to support XP so it's pretty unlikely you will find working drivers for it. Only windows xp/2003 drivers are known to work on ReactOS.
