Re: About ReactOS 0.4

Fixing the functions in the kernel which are missing for S2 and then change it ^^ Easy: Faking it to show ourselves as SP2 when the installer is being executed. Installer just does a "let's check if they have SP2 installed or not" however the app doesn't need any SP2 ;) I guess these are the 2 appr...

Re: [Community Edition]The 3 Top Most Voted apps are...

Luckily we are NOT Windows XP, we are Windows 2003 SP1 ^^ Do you really think Google is going to keep supporting Windows Server 2003 after they drop support for Windows XP? Most vendors don't even consider Windows Server in their support lifecycle. It's not meant to be used for web browsing anyway....

Re: ReactOS 0.3.17 is about to release!

Well, we have to begin understanding that ComEd and ReactOS are "different" products. We'll make Word 2010 to work in ReactOS CommEd by adding the needed hacks, however it doesn't mean that these hacks are going to be applied(if they are too hackish) in ReactOS itself. E.g We could force ReactOS Co...

That reminds me, Google Chrome is not going to be compatible with Windows XP after April 2015.

Re: Wine Internet Explorer

The only configurable option currently in WIE is the homepage. The browser doesn't even support HTTPS, and also lacks the certificate store.

It seems like a very bare bones browser only for programs that call it in Wine. I doubt they're going to develop it to a IE6 level of functionality.

Re: [Community Edition]The 3 Top Most Voted apps are...

To be specific, Google Chrome 37.0 on Windows now uses DirectWrite instead of GDI to render fonts with hardware acceleration (which in turn also requires Direct2D). On other platforms, Chrome still uses the OS' equivalent of GDI. Chrome 37.0 also fixed over 50 critical security vulnerabilities, just...

Re: games on ROS

Yes, something like 70 or 90 years. I don't think there is any software in existence that has fallen into the public domain solely due to 'old age'. (since software ain't around for that long). Correction, copyright expires a numbers of years after the owner dies or disappears . And in the case of ...

Re: [Community Edition]The 3 Top Most Voted apps are...

Well, finally. Surprised there have been no replies. For those who don't like suspense: 1. Java SE Runtime Environment 7 (Update 55?) 2. Google Chrome 35.0 3. Microsoft Word 2010 What I find a little problematic is the fact that by the time the Community Edition is released, Chrome will probably hav...

Re: Companys still useing XP after it is dead

As long as those computers aren't directly facing the Internet then I don't see a major problem. What I found scary was a smaller store that has a Windows XP computer, connected to the credit card reader, and on which the cashier was browsing Facebook. I paid with cash on my way out (my debit card w...

Adding to the argument above, the reason Gigahertz hadn't posted the newsletter was because it was summer vacation and he hadn't really been working during that time. Just in case you wanted to know.

This should only be a issue when we target NT 6.2 compatibility (and wouldn't that require that we add Metro anyway?).

That's pretty interesting. But since it isn't related to ReactOS, shouldn't it go in Off-Topic?

Re: Blog: Spilling the Wine

Hello, to anyone interested, here are a new set of builds from the branch, right after yesterday's trunk sync (r63640). You can choose between Compiled with Mingw-GCC , or Compiled with VS2013 Remember that VS builds need WinDbg attached to the serial port in order to start the installer (not requi...

Maybe you should just gray it out until it works, so people don't change it and then wonder why it doesn't work.
