My icons for pifmgr.dll

Requested some time ago at CORE-10253 . I drew these using Windows XP pifmgr.dll's icons as a reference. Unlike XP, though, these use 256 colours (267, to be exact). This is a stylistic choice rather than limitation, since all icons are actually 32-bit PNG with alpha channel, 32x32 pixel only - I've...

No, because he wants you to meet the standards. Make a proper text formatting first, don't use colour tags for text, don't use bold large fonts for download links - this is not a warez site . Also, you preferably need to keep the changelog in one place, while the download links to the old versions o...

Re: You Have No Idea How Bad I Want This to Work

Off-topic: People who use Google Translate to post on ReactOS forums should be punched where it hurts. And you know why? Because there are already language-specific sub-forums in existence! Don't know English well? Use those. Not only you annoy people with weird wording, which is hard to get due to ...

Re: OS/2 Program Support

NT core is basically a fork of OS/2, which also matches with naming conventions of certain functions. However , the underlying structures are drastically different between both. The OS/2 drivers simply won't work, because it would require NT core <-> OS/2 sub-core translator (or multipurpose device ...

Re: Suggestionnn

You could use a memory drive for storing registry and all programs installed for LiveCD (since it's all temporary). But this requires for ROS to have a proper memory manager implemented, which is currently not the case.

Re: 16-bit Windows Program Support

Since it's impossible to run 16-bit Windows applications in 64-bit CPU mode (or any other non-x86 architecture), which is one of the ultimate goals of ReactOS, they require complete implementation of NTVDM with emulated x86 CPU and the rest of hardware, plus a layer of stubs that would redirect old ...

sdever, weren't those drivers Read-Only? ROS can't even boot from them yet, not to mention create the new partitions.

Re: Question to Developers = %SystemRoot%\Bin

Blackrack, you can simply add a new directory to system PATH variable if you want a *nix-style tree.

You can also rename Program Files into "bin", Documents and Settings into "usr" and ReactOS into "sys", if you feel like it. :3c

Re: Will ReactOS use certificates on OS files?

I don't think you read my post. My thought exactly. FYI, most of rootkits don't patch the kernel files at all - they either integrate themselves via drivers or hacks in the registry. You don't need to sign any files - just prevent them from installation in the first place. Signing is bad, because i...

Re: Will ReactOS use certificates on OS files?

It has way more downsides than upsides - every check costs CPU time and does not cures the cause but tries to get rid of symptom. Not to mention the signing was introduced merely to disallow unapproved applications to run on Windows RT. With rootkits or not, having a working PC is better than a bric...

Re: Any interest in unforking Wine/ReactOS shell32?

I like this idea and think it would be great. But the thing is - Wine team is very reluctant when things are touching the "non-vital" functionality. I'm more than sure they don't want Wine to be used as Desktop Environment, hence why they didn't reimplemented explorer and shell32 beyond non-function...

Zoom 3 demo reel works. r71329, was tested on VBox with 2.9GB memory, with sound and Additions. There is significant sound desync and very minor graphics mismatches, speech synthesis is disabled. http://i79.fastpic.ru/big/2016/0516/c8/8f5ac199f0f2ae64bf70e58e93f61bc8.png This is a 64kb demo, not "d...

Re: Adding sound support to card games included in ReactOS

You DON'T need 11/22kHz! They sound atrocious due to their nature, the way modern soundcards treat them is entirely different from when those were introduced. They actually sound better and have almost the same size when interpolated from 22kHz to 44100Hz (or encoded under 44100Hz from the very begi...

Re: Adding sound support to card games included in ReactOS

Sane people use OGG Vorbis instead of wave in their OS nowadays. How huge is that in terms of filesize? As huge as 100 Kb for 10 seconds of 44100Hz 96kbps audio, which is more than enough for card samples.
