Re: Using Visual Studio To Build BootCD & LiveCD

I agree with pretty much every thing you wrote, and in particular: a) work is going to be duplicated no matter how much effort is made to avoid it and there is a point wherein attempts to avoid redundancy results in increased wasted effort and b) opportunities to debug issues are learning experience...

Re: Using Visual Studio To Build BootCD & LiveCD

Part of being a developer is figuring out how to deal with problems introduced by other people. If you can't/won't do that, you will make no progress whatsoever. Part of being a leader is knowing when it is better to let the person who created a problem fix it, so as to avoid redundancy by having s...

Re: Using Visual Studio To Build BootCD & LiveCD

Linking errors. Time for you to start seeing where the duplicate definitions are or what libraries are not being linked in. Not me. The person who is responsible for fixing it. This is a completely virgin pull of ReactOS from the repository. I did do so much as a DIR command at the DOS prompt. I me...

Re: When will 0.3.15 release?

There is only a call based interface between the native code and the VM I tried to be clear in previous posts, but there is obvious a disconnect somewhere. So let's try this: I want a smartphone that comes with absolutely no VM , of any kind, anywhere. When the customer (who happens to be a softwar...

Re: Using Visual Studio To Build BootCD & LiveCD

I got a build-break while trying to build LiveCD from completely fresh pull of sources from: svn://svn.reactos.org/reactos/trunk/reactos : uuid.lib(shguids.obj) : error LNK2005: _FOLDERID_AddNewPrograms already defined in shell32.lib(shguid.obj) uuid.lib(shguids.obj) : error LNK2005: _FOLDERID_Admin...

Re: Using Visual Studio To Build BootCD & LiveCD

It is difficult because I made the mistake of browsing the ReactOS doc's for help. Actually, AmineKhaldi walked me through a generation of Visual Studio solution, so I should not be having any problem, but that was two months ago. I am typing commands without really knowing what I am doing. The comm...

Re: Using Visual Studio To Build BootCD & LiveCD

Usually, when I want myself to know something, I try... and voilà, I usually don't ask to anybody. It's how I was educated. You never ever spend too much time guessing / fiddling.
There are quite a few people who struggle get a build of ReactOS. I am trying to fix that.

Re: When will 0.3.15 release?

No, OS code. The application code should be native machive code, that's what BlackRabbit wants. Actually, technically, I am not trying to arrive at a situation where my application is native code. Windows Phone 8 already allows that. I am trying to arrive at a situation where the image that is gene...

Re: Using Visual Studio To Build BootCD & LiveCD

I have no time in the next coming months to give a try at it. That is the reason that I am asking questions here. I realized that I spend to much time fiddling/guessing, when it would be far easier to ask someone who already knows the answer. If you want to figure out how the bootcd is created, the...

Re: Using Visual Studio To Build BootCD & LiveCD

Why... don't you try it by yourself and see whether it works or not, and share your results with the community ?! Because it is far more efficient for the person(s) who is(are) responsible to simply tell us. I thought it was only Amine, but it seems that there are others. Do you know the answer? If...

Using Visual Studio To Build BootCD & LiveCD

Several Questions: What is the official ReactOS web page, if there is one, that describes how to build ReactOS with Visual Stduio? This page says: Note: compiling with Visual Studio or with msbuild is not working yet . VSSolution is only provided for convenient soure code editing and browsing. Is th...

Re: When will 0.3.15 release?

More clearly stated: I want the bits of an image that are generated by compiling my C/C++ code to be interpreted by a physical CPU that most-likely consists of registers and combinatorial logic that conforms to a von-Neumann architecture. I want the entirety of my image to be interpreted as such. At...

Re: When will 0.3.15 release?

Well, I do want GUI access. I want the same unrestricted access that I would get running Linux on a desktop by writing my application in C/C++ with no need for any other languages or shells or frameworks or whatever. And that should be considered part of the operating system. On Windows you need to...

Re: When will 0.3.15 release?

You need to differentiate here. If you need access to the GUI (including touch nput) then you need to use JNI for this. Well, I do want GUI access. :) I want the same unrestricted access that I would get running Linux on a desktop by writing my application in C/C++ with no need for any other langua...

Re: When will 0.3.15 release?

And if you don't care about the x86 ISA, ARM is of course the other choice available. That Intel can keep prices where they are again indicates that there is a sufficiently large market for their products at the current price point to allow Intel to make a profit and reinvest in their R&D. That...
