Re: ReactOS Community Edition Screenshots

When searching for a Tango substitute, we found several XP themes for Linux iconsets, even we checked the Explorer++ ones, and we discovered that they were using icons extracted from Windows and hence illegal to use them. However, the one I linked seems to have its own iconset and recently released...

Website Copyright and Licensing

Problem: The main page, forum posts, the recently announced community.reactos.org subdomain, and all other pages of node/* (the development subdomains and wiki (the content license for that area already has a license notice) are excluded from here) lack a copyright notice. Why this could be bad: Wi...

Re: ReactOS needs tests and application compatibility

One question: How? The license(s) that ReactOS are licensed under permit commercial uses , including but not limited to, charging a monetary fee for a copy of ReactOS, forking ReactOS in order to gain a commercial advantage, and usage in a business for essential operations, even if the main user ta...

Re: Alternative icon theme - GNOME

I am now working on porting most of the GNOME icons as ICO files. They will ship with only 32-bit images, so if they do not display properly, some work may be needed. When I finish this task, I will post the icons online for all of you to look through and decide where to use them. They will be licen...

Alternative icon theme - GNOME

I have heard from some posts about replacing the current icon theme (Tango) with something more modern (the most-suggested here is the Faenza one). Although I personally like the Tango style, I think that there is another icon set that is similar in the Tango style, but more modern-looking at...

Using shared-mime-info

If ReactOS could be made to show more mimetypes than Windows does out of the box, here is something that could be used to do that, the shared-mime-info package. From http://freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/shared-mime-info : The shared-mime-info package contains the core database of common types and th...

Extra Large icon support

Starting with Wine version 1.5.27, extra large icons (256x256px) were added into the built-in programs that ship with it. See this announcement (near the top the page it should say "Large icons for built-in applications."): http://www.winehq.org/announce/1.5.27 I also have an example of such an icon...

Re: Explorer enhancements

If there are multilple applications that that want to be on top, they will stay above every other window that has not checked this option. Whenever they are stacked on top of each other, the window that gets focus will be the application on the topmost layer, while other windows that want to be on t...

Re: Explorer enhancements

I do not mean to do any shell hacks. :| The fullscreen option will only be enabled if the application supports it, so if the application does not, that option will be disabled. And for #8, will the alt-tab appearance be configurable, as in the way it looks can be changed?

Re: Explorer enhancements

By #5, I mean that the window control buttons and window title for a particular application will not be shown when this action takes place. By #6, I mean that when right-clicking on the window title or clicking on a window's application icon, an option in the menu that appears will also show 'fullsc...

The following five image links have green arrows that point to what could be implemented in ReactOS's built-in window manager: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwRl-upBbiv-T3FTTEhvNElHSVU/edit?usp=sharing https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwRl-upBbiv-emJKUEs0OXhCYk0/edit?usp=sharing https://docs.google...

Re: Read this if you've found software useful to ReactOS

Here's an alternative package manager, called Npackd, that could be used in place of the built-in app manager/downloader (RApps), if enough modification is done. This one may look more feature rich... Website: http://code.google.com/p/windows-package-manager/ Specs: * Licenced under the GNU GPL v3. ...

Re: Read this if you've found software useful to ReactOS

I might have found something interesting: a paint program called NKPaint. It uses MFC, but supplies some of its own dlls. At the time of this posting, I have not tested this program yet, but I may do so soon whenever I can find the time. Features: Similar to Microsoft Paint in the looks and function...
