yes it definitely will. Sounds good. So it will be possible to create a partition with ReactOS and mount existing partitions with Windows, Linux or DOS? Will it be possible to mount partitions readonly? Maybe for programm files to keep these virus free. Will ReactOS have a external partition for sw...

Disk Drives vs. Mount Points

Windows-versions inherit the odd system of disk drive letters from the old CP/M http://www.gaby.de/ecpm.htm (nearly Stone Age). Unix-versions (Solaris, Linux, BSD, BeOS, MacOS X, NextStep, ...) don't have this nonelastic system of drive letters for addressing. The file system is here independ...

Then there'll be many programs that won't run on ReactOS.;) ActiveX in a webbrowser is a bad idea, I agree. But otherwise it's a nice technology that isn't more insecure than other technologies. I think it could be nice to can switch off Active-X (ReactOS-X) if you like. Or it is posssible to can p...

Re: Will ReactOS be a multi user OS?

Its XP's 10 connection limit (that can be boosted to 40 if running a MS SQL server) that prevents a workstation from acting as a bonafide server. The TCP/IP stack sucks in the workstation and home flavours of 2k/XP. I hope that ReactOS will be not 100% compatible to such M$-rubbish. Why limits? Why...

Re: Package Manager - Screenshot

The grafical package manager could be good.

But I need a command-line package manager too. This is necessary for install-scripts. With Debian-Linux I use the nice apt-get command in Shell-Scrips for easy and fast installation of servers.

I hope ReactOS will have a command-line package manager too.

I think Microsoft make it easy for lazy people ;-)
But I think it is not good. It could be good if ReactOS avoide this.

Maybe we can improve the usability and documentation to avoid this problem.

hmm when i want to install new software under linux (debian sarge) i must change to root, too. Yes and this is OK. But you can do this without limitations and you can work in your normal account at the same time. This is what I mean. For example: You are surfing in the internet and your are realizi...

Live CD full with applications

The live CD of ReactOS has nearly no applications.
I think it could be great if we build a live CDs full of applications in the same ways as Knoppix http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html (a Linux live CD).

Is this possible for ReactOS 0.3?

Re: Will ReactOS be a multi user OS?

I know that the multi user capabilities of all Windows versions are terrible bad. But how is this with ReactOS?

Have a normal user to logout and after that to login as an Administrator for installing software?

Or will it be convenient like in Unix/Linux?

Will ReactOS be a multi user OS?

One of the big disadvantages of Windows is that it is not a multi user OS. You can't login several times at one time. For example you can't login as a normal user for surfing in the internet and as a superuser (administrator) for installing software.

ReactOS on other processor types, for example Sparc?

Hello,

is it possible to compile and run ReactOS on other processor types, for example Sparc?

I mean not now but later. I have an old SparcStation LX for testing.

I know that ReactOS need SCSI-Support for this as well.
