ReactOS Firewall

Hi.

I know it's too early to talk about this, but I am interested more in your roadmap plans.

Is ReactOS going to have a firewall bundled with it by default when it's ready?
(and if yes, is it going to be a 2-way firewall, like in Win Vista onwards systems?)

Thanks. :)

Re: IGG perk selection question

I agree that I could have waited and donate all at once. I will try to do this again until the campaign ends, if I can save that amount by then, but I may not raise the money. It is the correct way after all, like the others did.

Thanks for the feedback. IndieGoGo ReactOS! :)

Re: IGG perk selection question

It is a real case... my case. And while I have no priority to choose a specific app now (I've donated just for the project's generic moving forward), I thought that it may come in handy to push an app if possible (not only for me, but possibly for other people in the community who will use ReactOS)....

IGG perk selection question

Hi, I have a question about Indiegogo fundraiser. (The answer is probably no, but I will ask it anyway.) If someone is not able to donate a large enough amount so that he/she can select a perk, but he/she donates little at a time, multiple times, does this person have a chance to select a park at th...

Is Classic Shell able to help out ReactOS?

I guess some of you know about the Classic Shell project for Windows 8. http://www.classicshell.net/faq/ What I want now to highlight is the question Is Classic Shell open-source? Why? because the author of Classic Shell says the following: "If you are curious how certain features work, you can ask ...

Re: How much RAM will ReactOS be able to address?

XP SP3 32-bit also limits the RAM. On my old laptop, with 4 GB RAM and 512MB Video it only addressed 3,5 GB - with PAE On my current machine (4GB RAM with 2GB dedicated video and Intel HD Integrated Graphics), when I had Windows 7 SP1 32 bit , it only listed me around 2,6 GB RAM. Finally now on Win...

How much RAM will ReactOS be able to address?

In short: Windows 32-bit (x86) Platform only supports 3 GB of RAM, with a Physical Address Extension of 512 MB => max 3,5 GB of RAM. ReactOS is also 32 bit. ----BUT---- Linux is also 32 bit and its PAE can address much more RAM. So, will ReactOS have a PAE that will address more than 3,5 GB of RAM? ...

Re: ReactOS - a sandbox for safe browsing

Technically that would mean writing some sort of hypervisor software for reactos, so that it could be virtualized. I am not an expert in this, but in theory it could be possible. Perhaps this link is relevant to what you wish for: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Root_kit#Hypervisor_level If yes, *tech...

Re: ReactOS - a sandbox for safe browsing

COMODO Internet Security is a free security suite which includes a sandbox and a Virtual Desktop.

Sandboxie is another free handy utility.

If you want to browser safely in a sandbox, you can use one of these apps.

I hope that at least one of them will be supported in ReactOS in the future :)

Re: ReactOS Community Edition (Indiegogo)

I didn't say it was easy. ;) Anyway, doesn't ReactOS follow Win 2003 Server? I just said that it would be good for the campaign IMHO. People are mostly not tech savvies, but many of them like XP, which is ReactOS's goal of reimplementing. Devs could take thier time in analyzing and doing what's best...

Re: ReactOS Community Edition (Indiegogo)

Hey devs! :D

I have a tip for you.

XP Support is ending. People still use this OS (~ 30% of the population)

Wouldn't it be nice to stress this idea on the indiegogo page? ;)

The death of XP will not happen thanks to ReactOS.
There would be MANY people who would pay for this :D

Let's "spam" the world... like a real revolution. They could say that we are mad or
annoying, but in the end they will be thanking us :D

Anyway, every genius has his touch of madness, aye? 8-)

EDIT: $ 1,000 already  That says something ;)

+1 I have the same opinion.
