Re: UTF-8 Everywhere

By "simpler" I mean having a simpler tree of implementations. It wouldn't be necessary to upkeep different full versions of the same function like it is now. If UTF-16 is to be deprecated, having some performance drop with those back and forth translations would not be such a big issue. After all, R...

Re: UTF-8 Everywhere

I agree that this manifest targets application programmers, not OS ones (this thread was not moved to off-topic, it was posted here), but it is nonetheless a good thing to read. I didn't had a point to make at the time of posting, but since then I come to think that It might be a worthwhile effort t...

UTF-8 Everywhere

Some people made a manifest to support UTF-8 as the default text encoding (spotlighting the Windows platform): http://utf8everywhere.org/ ...we believe that the very popular UTF-16 encoding (mistakenly used as a synonym to ‘widechar’ and ‘Unicode’ in the Windows world) has no place in library APIs (...

C99-to-C89 conversion tool

The tool itself posted on github several hours ago: https://github.com/rbultje/c99-to-c89 ...found by reading the blog of (one of) it's creator(s): http://blogs.gnome.org/rbultje/2012/09/27/microsoft-visual-studio-support-in-ffmpeg-and-libav/ I find the issue (addressed by the blogger) to be one of ...

Re: Poll: New icon set for the next major release of ReactOS

I'd personally suggest Token icon pack which is quite complete and author of it made psd files public for people to make their own icons that are "compatible" from designers point of view (I forgot a word for it, I hope you understand what's on my mind). http://brsev.deviantart.com/art/Token-128429...

Re: Poll: New icon set for the next major release of ReactOS

Victor, you're presenting the current circumstances like being inappropriate or something. As I see it, it's not like ReactOS can't afford to make an official call and wait for something to come for free on it's own time, even if it will take 1-2 years (in which case I hope it won't be for the next ...

Re: Poll: New icon set for the next major release of ReactOS

If people want a custom icon set from scratch, someone has to be willing and able to do it. Otherwise it's not an option. How would we know if there is or isn't someone? That's suppose to be one of the call's purposes, among other things. But because the ReactOS team is the one that considers or no...

Re: cia.vc dead

It's funny - cia.vc tried to shut down itself for quite a while already! Here's something from more than a yrear ago: http://scanlime.org/2011/05/cia-vc-service-is-down-indefinitely/ The back-ups impeded the efforts back then, but they finally addressed and permanently solved the back-up problem now!

Re: Poll: New icon set for the next major release of ReactOS

Another call for changing Tango was made a while ago and just like then , (although I've casted a vote for an existing pool option,) I'm still suggesting to make a call for designing a new icon set for ( the next major release of ) ReactOS . I'm glad Pisarz is now supporting the idea, it wasn't clea...
