Re: When will 0.3.15 release?

You need to differentiate here. If you need access to the GUI (including touch nput) then you need to use JNI for this. Well, I do want GUI access. :) I want the same unrestricted access that I would get running Linux on a desktop by writing my application in C/C++ with no need for any other langua...

Re: When will 0.3.15 release?

PascalDragon, and what about the Android's Java VM? What do you mean here? You do know that there is nothing stopping you from writing native applications on Android and Tizen that leverage the full functionality of the underlying Linux kernel? E.g. for Android there exists an app that contains a Q...

Re: When will 0.3.15 release?

ReactOS would quickly rise to the leader position for mobile OS's beecause, contrary to popular belief, neither Android , nor iOS , nor WP7 , nor WP8 , and now, not even Tizen , is open. All of these OS's are actually sand-box the developer. You do know that there is nothing stopping you from writi...

Re: Using GO Programming Language

Just out of curiosity, are any of the people proposing allowing development in new languages actually ReactOS devs? I'm assuming not, so you're presumably motivated by a desire to help out developers who are far better judges of what would help them. And this is also one of the main points: the dev...

Re: Using GO Programming Language

Guys, what is so hard about accepting that ReactOS is written in C and C++? I'm a Pascal developer and use that language for everything, but do you see me complaining that ReactOS is not written in Pascal?

Re: Programs that should come with ReactOS

If you mean "distribute with ReactOS installation", then the answer is no, these won't be added, because the goal is to only provide a base system which only contains the really necessary programs. If you mean "add them to the Download application" that should be possible if they aren't already in t...

Re: Education & Research (Universities collaboration)

@Black_Fox: Yes, this is exactly how I meant it. @vicmarcal: I don't know in how far you are aware of it, but Android is basically "just" a Linux system with a Java based userland and no X11. Google even provides a Native Development Kit which allows you to build native binaries and libraries. The l...

Re: Education & Research (Universities collaboration)

Oh!Nice to heard! That could make it much easier the "Port". Maybe Arwinss can make use of Seamlessmode through Xserver ?Or since it is running inside the Android Java Machine(and not on Linux) it would be really difficult? There exists a X11 server for Android . I don't know though how well network...

Re: Education & Research (Universities collaboration)

There do exist Android apps that provide an x86 QEMU and I've managed to boot ReactOS on one of them some time ago. AFAIR the app was called Limbo. It's just a bit hard to use with only a touchscreen, but the performance was ok (not good, but not bad either). Just for information: my phone has a 1.2...

Re: When will 0.3.15 release?

I thought it was supposed to be alpha until 0.5 anyway. Even if they release 0.4 tomorrow, 0.5 would be released in 2020 if 0.4.x lasts as long as 0.3.x did! Yes, development is very slow. :| Why does everyone relate development speed with released versions? The main mesasure should be commits. E.g...

1. Congratulation for switching the new website live :)

2. Just in case no one noticed: the news entries and the newsletters aren't up to date (news entry is "meeting minutes november" instead of "meeting minutes january" and newsletter is #88 instead of AFAIR #93)

Re: Official Fundraising Contracts List

milon wrote:Newsletter 83 says there are contracts in the works that haven't been announced.
I understood it in that way that the devs are working out new contracts, maybe they are talking to developers already that could do it, but the contract is not yet "signed" and thus active.

Re: Winulator

Most of that was gibberish to me. Sorry, I got carried away with my developer speak there :geek: I think you're agreeing with me? I was mostly referring to "I just read that Google provides a tool" and "Performance would probably suck". As I wrote above the tool is part of the normal development ch...

Re: Google Sommer of Code 2013

How far has the ARM port come? I think it doesn't boot in the emulator and where has it stop ? Here is a video from December 2010 where the ROS ARM group started to boot ReactOS on a ARM device. And in this mail they mention that they got the bootloader (FreeLdr) working on the iPhone (this was in ...
