Re: Cut-features version to run in the cloud as a platform

Great idea but ReactOS has to be built to be something that reliably works in other respects before it can be shrunk down.

Re: 2020 expectations

Don't forget the ReactOS team is fairly decentralised with chaps just working on those tasks that they can, those that interest them and those that they perceive as being resolvable within their skillset. They code to that approach and no-one pushes then in order to avoid potential burn-out. No-one ...

Perhaps it would have been better to raise your own thread for the question rather than hijack another. You are more likely to get the help you need.

As to the latter question, you should read the earlier response: https://www.reactos.org/getbuilds/

Re: Installed ReactOS but...

... I don't see any applications or whats so ever. Why is that? Note that Reactos is an operating system and by default an o/s doesn't necessarily come with any software pre-installed even though that may be a trend with current oses, it isn't a trend that ReactOS will follow so no candy crush here...

Re: BSOD while trying out live CD on HP 15-db1000AU laptop

In addition, testing it on an XP/early Vista era system would be more likely to achieve a boot though support for real hardware is currently quite patchy. More modern machines may not yet 'take' to ReactOS.

Re: Some simple questions:

Basically, no.

You can install it anywhere you like but likely it will not work, it is Alpha grade software, that is pre-beta.

Don't install it anywhere that you have data that you want to remain as that data and not as scrambled bytes.

VS2017 on ReactOS is a no.

Sorry to lower your expectations.

Re: ReactOS for Industrial Automation

No sensible organisation would ever use an untried and untested o/s for such a mission-critical task. The only reason any company would attempt such a thing is if they were desperate, ie. they could not make their software operate on any other platform.

Yes Quake! I play it all the time on real hardware.
Me too... Can't stop playing the old classics. It is good to see t home on ReactOS.

Re: EPIC WIN!

When you get closer they change colour to the correct and expected ones, I think the transparent background to the menu has caused that minor interference. It is still an Epic Win that it works at all.

You could ask Human Resources. They are next to Payroll and the IT department.

You can contact them here: https://www.reynholm.co.uk/it.php

Oh yes.. and Quake One too.

In this case, the Darkplaces engine. Slow on this emulated ReactOS but it shoots!

It would be good if someone could test Darkplaces on real hardware running ReactOS and post a video link.

The old stalwart default VMS editor EDT

[ external image ]

EDT was my go-to editor on all the years I was a system admin for VMS on Dec Vax and Alpha. I still have cause to use it to this very day.

I have the Windows version here as well and it operates perfectly on ReactOS.

Re: So impressed by ReactOS 0.4.14

I have installed some other utilities and a partial success with these: o PhotoDemon an open source photoshop-style tool written in VB6 installs and runs but baulks on some images. o XYplorer a non-free Explorer replacement also written in VB6 installs but generates an error and will not run. o Bloo...
