So it is a moving target. Windows evolves, adds new APIs etc, and you need to follow.
You need to research what ReactOS is aiming to achieve.

Re: Goodbye for a while

I've followed ReactOS and Linux for a REALLY LONG TIME. Frankly the status of main stream operating systems is forever stuck in a status quo. Linux never developed a proper SDK so package managers are basically holding together a desktop operating system with crazy glue, completely terrible solutio...

Sorry to add to this thread but this one is rowlocks... Can I suggest to jcalverez that he does some investigation into reality before posting?

Re: Can the following programs run on ReactOS?

Just buy a decent router with a good firewall. Then install Sygate SPF. Try it. It might work. If it works, do this: https://www.securityfocus.com/bid/6684/solution Then avoid the internet. For comparison, when using my XP system I typically run with a wireless-only network with wireless always swit...

Re: ReactOS didn't work on 5 computers: BSOD

it seems to be going the same (terrible) way as Apple with its OS'es which normally only works on very specific Hardware No. Not really. It is just what you should expect with an o/s that is still in its infancy, developers are working on other things so a lot of hardware support is simply missing ...

Re: ReactOS didn't work on 5 computers: BSOD

Try it on a virtual machine first and test it there. That will allow you to get a taste of ReactOS and its current state of development. If you really want to test it on real hardware then search the forum for a particular machine and see if anyone has had any luck installing a version of ReactOS on...

Re: 58 specific reasons for wanting ReactOS:

As an open source OS, what would happen if someone uses portions of MS copyrighted code and submits it to you for inclusion in this OS? If someone does this, MS will claim patent infringment or even piracy of their software? This comment has nothing to do with this thread so please, in future, post...

Re: Can the following programs run on ReactOS?

You are thinking of using ReactOS a little too early in ReactOS' development.

We have a time machine if you really need to obtain version 1.0. It needs a bit if work.

Re: Should I install it?

No. Do not install on real hardware unless the machine and the data on it is not important. You must understand the risks. Read the installation instructions for ReactOS and read it well.

Tell us the hardware in detail so we can prove you are not a bot.

Should ROS 0.4.12 be codenamed ReactOS McReactOSface?
It would probably be ReactOS Boaty-McBoatface, sad but true. People are sad. However, I'd vote for that too.
