Re: ReactOS - a sandbox for safe browsing

Just tried using Slax instead of ReactOS for a virtual machine for my secure browsing and the result? Takes 3-4 mins to boot and crashed the first time I attempted to open a flash video on the first site I encountered, a memory error. In comparison ReactOS boots from cold in approx. 30 secs on virtu...

Re: ReactOS - a sandbox for safe browsing

Your prompting to use Sandboxie led me to try to give it another go. I remember using it a few years back and finding it to be the most unituitive program, badly designed graphically, clunky and hard to use. I have to report that the new version is exactly the same but worse in that some programs no...

Re: Blog: Indiegogo software/hardware vote info

My specific reasons for wanting ReactOS: 1. Safe browsing in a ReactOS sandbox (Firefox) 2. A platform for development (VB6) 3. A platform for widget development (Yahoo Widget Engine) 4. A platform for graphical design (Photoshop CS ver 8.0 - the oldest) 5. A windows platform not in the hands of Mic...

Re: ReactOS - a sandbox for safe browsing

You just run Oracle VM virtualbox or similar virtual machine.

ReactOS is just distributed as a virtual drive, firefox preloaded within.

Same with any software that needs or is only compatible with windows 5.n. Could be bundled with ReactOS.

Re: ReactOS - a sandbox for safe browsing

Yes, I am aware of them and have used them but I was talking about running a browser within a ReactOS VM as ReactOS is so quick to boot/run. Sandboxie has a wierd interface and is a strange app to use. It feels 'unnatural' to use. Running a browser within a genuine o/s is a much more familiar place ...

ReactOS - a sandbox for safe browsing

When ReactOS is stable enough to run multiple tabs in browsers such as Firefox (0.3 isn't for me) it would act as a very good sandbox for browsing and accessing potentially dodgy websites. So far ReactOS boots up in an incredibly short time and if it continues to do so in 0.4 and beyond it will make...

I'll give that a go - how did you figure that one out?

Update your own site with ReactOS news

We all ought to update our own sites in some way with marketing information regarding the new Revolution. I am ready to do so regarding one or two of the sites that I maintain. Can we please have access to some marketing information, images and more importantly copy so that we can push out the right...

Re: Feedback: VB6 installation fails at ACMBOOT.EXE 0.3.16

That's great you managed to install the runtime. Have you tried firing up any programs that use the runtime?

The IDE does not even install as shown above let alone run, though I could just try moving all the files over by hand as you have done. I will give that a go.

If I were you I'd spend less time analysing things and more time doing! I reckon on this forum there are too many brain cells and too many words and I for one are going to stop contributing here. My last post.

Re: Blog Comment Functionality Removal

I can't be bothered to read that last one...

Did you go on the course on how to alienate people? If visitors read this and they are inclined not to help I can see why.

Re: Blog Comment Functionality Removal

OK, I can tell you don't want help - I won't be offering it again. I would have fixed that stuff in seconds on my sites - not even really worth the chat we have expended on it. You don't really sound 'human' enough to engage with in any case, perhaps a little too logical. Good luck with the rest tho...

Re: Blog Comment Functionality Removal

You do seem very defensive when no criticism is implied. You also don't seem to be able to recognise or accept help when it is offered. If you read the original points I raised you will see all my points are logical, positive and helpful. I run over 40 sites as an admin and I completely understand w...
