Re:

That's got nothing to do with the point in discussion. What is being discussed is using GRUB to directly boot ReactOS, not to boot FreeLoader.

Re: GRUB as the primary bootloader

Monoculture is usually beneficial on the short/mid runs, but deleterious and disastrous on the long run: http://blog.mozilla.org/sfink/2013/02/14/browser-wars-the-game/ I'm not saying it's good, I'm saying it's not necessarily bad. Those are two different things. I personally like variety, that's w...

Re: GRUB as the primary bootloader

GRUB can boot almost everything from NTLDR to Linux, to XNU, to BSD, to self-withstanding utilities. FreeLDR can just boot Windows NT, ReactOS, Linux and multiboot. Actually implementing GRUB module and CL argument support will contribute to GRUB functionality, we will be first to implement a Windo...

Re: GRUB as the primary bootloader

Now? Its that way since.... forever? You can't just kick in grub and let it do the needed configuration and additionally I dont see any reason to do so. FreeLDR is needed as its a mandatory component of ReactOS, such as WinLDR is for Windows. We dont just link in another external component into our...

This sounds more like a missing functionality than a bug. I'll check on that later.

Re: Edit clon

Have you reported such "some errors"? Can you give any details about them? Hi!, yes, when this app is called with parameters, by example edit d:test.txt open edit with test.txt file, but this file is incorrect (open old version from file), but, when is called as edit d:\test.txt then the file is op...

Re: YouTube Nonprofit Program

Hmpffft! Been ages since I used mirc. This whole irc thing is a bit of an outdated technology, is it not? Maybe the devs should implement something else. Or at least give a webinterface to it. As DOSGuy, there are plenty of interfaces. Also, IRC is the standard for this kind of thing. You can use i...

Re: Poll: Would you buy a printed/packaged Ros-cd in support

I support DOSGuy here. Also, if my purpose is to support ReactOS, I'd rather donate. What's the point on wasting resources in a printed/packaged CD of something we all know isn't production quality yet. I'd rather donate with no material reward for it than knowing a fraction of my donation is wasted...

Re: Cobian Backup: Huge Opportunity for ROS?

Whether it's free or open source or anything else doesn't matter. If we had ownership of it, we could create the license agreement, so the current one wouldn't matter. Also, darn. I didn't notice that post in the forum. It may indeed be too late. It is important indeed, as if it was open source you...

Re: Find a corporate sponsor

Besides, many mobile providers (Verizon, etc) don't like an open platform. They want things locked down, and ROS is very open. ¿?, but if Android and Firefox OS are open source. AFAIK Android is closed source in drivers thing. I'm not sure how Firefox OS handles this with their MPL, but Android doe...

Re: Find a corporate sponsor

(maybe all?) Nope, not all. There are some Intel based using x86 (I'm not sure if a 32 or 64 bit variant). ReactOS doesn't work on ARM, so it makes sense that mobile manufacturers aren't interested at this point. Besides, many mobile providers (Verizon, etc) don't like an open platform. They want t...

Re: September 2013 Meeting Minutes

A vote was taken and the proposal to include it in ReactOS by default after testing was passed.
I think this means the inclussion of that driver was approved.

Re: Media player Classic on Github

Blacky, you can compress without hiding, if you use common algorithms. I suggest a 7z based compression if the aim is to minimize image size, although compressing in that format is somewhat expensive.
