You're certain you couldn't make it any more confusing as to which window belongs to which OS? ;)

Unix was well-established in 1991, when the first version of Linux was released. At the moment, there are more and more servers running Linux every day. Linux has been ported to virtually every platform possible, and is also beginning to work its way into the embedded OS market. Unix's only strongho...

ReactOS: bringing the joys of Communism to your desktop! ;)

You can blame our very own Bill Gates for this (re his appearance at CES) :D

Thanks for the suggestions, I need it!!!! Suggesting stuff is easy, doing the actual work is the hard part ;) Anyway, this wasn't really intended to be professional. I'm a programmer, not a graphics designer ;) Thanks anyhow. Oh, I think it looks fine :) Tell me, how did you make this image? Which ...

Not bad for a first try, but I've got a few suggestions: - the colours, especially the green, is far too bright. Tone it down a bit. - the font you used for 'ReactOS' seems a bit out of place, probably because of the 3D setup you used for the rest. The lines don't seem to fit in very well, either. M...

I agree with avryhof. When all is said and done, and when everybody goes home to their seperate lives, don't we all believe deep inside (I mean REAL deep) that Linux is just a bag of trash? 90-something percent of all OS installations are Windows. If ReactOS reaches a level that it becomes practica...

Thanks!! I must, however, remind you of something: windows is fast because it uses hardware acceleration. Turn hw accel it off, reboot your computer, and then try it again. Ouch!!!!!!! No kidding. I once tried to playback a video file fullscreen with hardware acceleration disabled. It was kind of c...

Once the OS is finished, changing it's look would be trivial. The fact that it is open source would make it even more trivial. When version 1.0 is released, I bet that within a week we'd end up with something like a hundred thousand themes and styles for the OS. No worries!! I completely agree. Peo...

What about bridging the gap which has plagued computing since the early 80's? I'm talking about a Macintosh Subsystem. If a macintosh subsystem was written that stupid arguement about which platform is better would be over. That and the fact that I want to see MacOs and/or A/UX running on my pc :) ...

I like the 2nd in your link. But I don't think OSS and freeware should be separated. Try to see it all in the users perspective instead of the programmers perspective like linux developers most of the time does. I agree, the developer should allow whenever possible the end user to decide how a list...

Yep I agree, FREESCO is great, I've installed it myself on an old computer to do routing for me.

Coyote Linux beats FreeSCO by a big margin :)

Like Jaix, I stumbled over ReactOS many years ago when I was looking at alternative (Win32-compatible or not) OSs.

Back then it was CLI-only, and didn't seem to be making much progress, so I didn't check the project for quite some years, until a few months ago.

Two comments: - The HDD icon looks a bit plain. Perhaps a more 'exciting' angle would help? - The recycling symbol on the trash can is quite hard to make out, even on the largest version. I had to look for a few minutes at it before I realized what the green blur was :) Other than that it looks grea...
