Re: Minimal System setup

Version 0.3.14-20120205-rUNKNOW (from ISO download) 20120205 == 5 February 2012, quite old indeed :D If you want to test ReactOS, please use our nightly build from there: http://www.reactos.org/getbuilds . Since February, many many things were fixed (network, ...). By the way, we are currently upda...

Re: Are learning to rewrite usetup.exe and blue.sys

[...] In my opinion, it would be a good idea to replace the text-mode setup by a gui-based one. We alredy have a simple gui-setup application in the source tree. This could be a good starting point for you. Translating the setup appication will then be as simple as translating any other application...

Re: Are learning to rewrite usetup.exe and blue.sys

If I recall correctly, setupdd.sys was used for the text-mode setup program only until Windows NT 4.0 . Starting Windows 2000 (and beyond), it doesn't use setupdd.sys . This file is used only for the recovery console. But these claims should be checked.

Re: Minimal System setup

Bonjour tothpaul ! We had (about 2-3 years ago) a console-only mode on ReactOS (which can be launched by adding /CONSOLE to the ReactOS boot options inside freeldr.ini) but curently this doesn't seem to work, perhaps because of an "interference" problem with win32k.sys (our GUI subsystem). Otherwise...

Dave3434 wrote:why not just have firefox preinstalled and download what you want from oldapps and such. or have your programs on a usb stick? that's what i do anyways?
Because the philosophy is to have a minimum OS in the bootcd/livecd and it's up to the user to download what he/she wants.

Re: Download ReactOS Trunk Builds

And thus, on a xxx-dbg(win).iso image, you have the kernel debugger that you can see if you use debugging output (via serial port) when running ReactOS on a virtual machine.

I guess this is the only surviving link after all that time: http://ubuntu-user333.deviantart.com/art/Unofficial-ReactOS-Cover-203080400 Sorry! A captcha like this should take care of both: http://drupal.org/files/issues/captcha_3.png  Instead of proving that indeed the inverse Fourier Transformation of the Fourier Transform of a function, gives the initial function (if it is L1(R) or L2(R)), you can set this kind of captcha: Do the f...

RE: REVISION 55729 - INTRODUCE CRASH ON PURPOSE

When someone committed the patch, he purely restored what Windows does, namely, having a static buffer of 512 bytes for the hive name, and if its length appears to be > 512 chars, you fail miserably. If it does not cause a buffer overflow, maybe it is not worth considering. It looks more like a Win...

Re: What's wrong with unix tradition

Exadurating, my point is that Unix tradition promotes low self-respect (poor UI for yourself), neglect (making people type numerous commands), and tolerance to humiliation (for ex. "sudo" each time). There may be a lot of logical explanations why these things are better the way they are, but I woul...
