Re: The Future of Wine and Windows XP mode

you are thinking that one competes with another, they are totally separate things attempting to do something similar If you want to run windows programs and you run Linux you use WINE If you want to run a free windows based OS you run ReactOS People use linux daily and they like it, people use windo...

Re: System Restore

why need to do a fresh install of windows when you can revert to an image of the system? Why spend extra time installing OS, installing drivers, setting up the system and updating programs when you could just do an image of the system and get back to that point in time after install?

Re: ReactOS and fragmentation

Z98, you want to know what is more annoying than your "triple posting" is that you derailed the conversation. Now if they messaged a bunch of crap you can PM them and situation is fixed. Don't spam in a actual conversation please.

Now, back on topic.

Re: System Restore

What I would really love to have is a function that make a snapshop of the OS so you can revert EVERYTHING back it a point in time, like how VMware could revert back to an old snapshot. My reasoning behind this is that I deal with customers on a daily basis who infect their computer with viruses or ...

Re: Questions

What does death of XP really mean? What has changed between XP and Vista or XP and 7 that is fundamentally important?

The big change in my mind is the addition to proper x64 systems. Yes XP had a 64 bit OS but it was poorly maintained. x64 win7 runs great and usability has improved greatly.

Death of XP

While reading up on slashdot I saw that Microsoft released a "Death to XP" clock that counts down the days to the end of support for XP. http://www.i-programmer.info/news/126-os/2338-microsoft-counts-down-to-xp-death.html The date is in 2014 and I was thinking, what if ReactOS aimed for that date to...

ReactOS and fragmentation

I am wondering how ReactOS is going to deal with fragmentation in the future, is it going to follow windows design method or are you going to add a swap partition similar to unixies

Re: Myreactos website....

I used to follow the site until the lack of updates.

If you are going to make a new site I would highly suggest to switching over to a new wiki board like mediawiki http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki

I was going to post about the site needing a heavy makeover.

Any more tests?

I was wondering if you guys need anything else tested or checked out. As you seen there are lots of people who want to lend a hand but might not be coders so feel free to ask.

Google Summer of Code

I remember looking over at pidgin's website about a program called Google Summer of Code (http://code.google.com/soc/) where they would offer student developers help with open source projects.

I was wondering if you thought about applying for this to get some more assistance.
