also the wiki is a mess right now so a reason is very important as a first step to organize our thoughts and put it all together in a clear way.

Re: Recruiting

#2 will help with that

It really does not matter if 95% of people leave because say 100 people pop in then at least we have 5 that stayed and that is 5 more than we had.

Re: Recruiting

Well the issue with ROS is that things need to be done in stages. 1. The website needs to be fixed / updated : This is important because it will make us look more professional and it is easier to try to recruit a web designer than someone who does programing on an OS. 2. Project information updates:...

I think there are multiple ways we can recruit people and I would love to help, if anyone wishes to discuss some of my ideas I would gladly wish to help.

Re: [SUGGESTION] Target Business Desktops?

I believe there should be some basic browser installed, even if it is something quick and dirty. Those who don't want it can deselect it or uninstall it later when they get the one they want, if any. There is no need in stranding people from the Internet when that is where they may need to go to ge...

Re: Google Trend : ReactOS

is there a PR department for ROS? I am just wondering if there is anyone trying to recruit new coders? I like seeing the news letters on the front page but I would love to see them updated more.

Re: anyone think a release cycle like firefox might work

I agree with the discussion here. We need more developers. I have an idea how they are developing different versions. They probably have a map ahead of time that they are using and writing fairly independently to conform to the map. And they do break compatibility along the way, since plugins often...

Re: In-browser emulator

Re: anyone think a release cycle like firefox might work

Well I understand how to release 3 different versions but I don't see it applicable yet for ReactOS for that kind of thing to happen the OS needs to be stable.

Re: More deployment options than slipstreaming files?

Well IMO there are two ways, slipstreaming is good for installing on different types of hardware because all it does is a custom install and can install extra software. The other is making a CD image but that will not be an effective way to deploy it to the masses because you need to have similar ha...

Re: Google Trend : ReactOS

Well a lot of things are working better now because they were able to fix up the memory manager which I think was holding up a lot of progress on these things. Its hard to add stuff when things are breaking when they shouldn't

I might want to point out that reactos is falling in the trend but that won't matter as much until it gets stable.

Re: USB install

I am not 100% sure about if this information is accurate, I was listening in on the dev IRC and someone committed a change on the USB driver so that it can be booted from USB. Before the USB driver was not working so you could not do anything with USB devices (mouses, keyboards etc) but a lot of wor...
