Re: Organisation of non-developers?

By the way, when I am talking about "the right moment" for financial sponsorhip I mean that the middle of a world-wide financial crisis may not be precisely the right time to try to get it, especially from private entities. ;) But the issue should be clarified anyway.

Re: Organisation of non-developers?

I would be glad to help, and I consent with you that a lot of this "open source hobby doctrines" are somewhat absurd. I think as a first step we should chat with the developers - so far, this project is more or less their "hobby", and if they do not agree with "going professional", there is not much...

Re: Organisation of non-developers?

I do not see it as particularly likely to have a closed-source version, for two reasons: 1. - There IS a closed source version - and it is called Microsoft Windows, and is far, far away from "alpha" stage; 2. - as far as I understand, the code is under the GPL. The legal problems and risks arising o...

Re: Organisation of non-developers?

I think the mistrust is against dependence and duties. I presume a thought like, "So far, we live without sponsorship. We roam free and do what we want. Once we get sponsorship, we have to fulfil conditions and keep to deadlines. We will get dependent and lose control over what we do." The point is,...

Re: Organisation of non-developers?

@ RideBMX I consent. In particular, the developers might have conflicts of interest: How are you going to tell someone that he is NOT going to get funded? (After all, if someone really does not care, why should he be funded?) - What if you actually co-operated well with him in the past? If "the Reac...

Re: Organisation of non-developers?

@ Ragnar_Darude Wow, perfect!! I just sat down to do try to do what you already did in the meantime. :D Apparently there is an upcoming call, too, scheduled for 24th November 2009. I was actually looking for something like this: http://209.85.229.132/search?q=cache:8hjDW6T65Z4J:www.fp7ireland.ie/cms...

Re: Organisation of non-developers?

OK, OK, you guys convinced me. I will propose to the ReactOS team however only after I have something. I mean, so far, it is just good intentions, but not yet the "how-do-we-get-EU-sponsorship-guide".

Re: Organisation of non-developers?

No, that is not what I meant. I am more concerned that "Morpheus" might be of some (possibly criminal) organisation that follows own interests and tries to "hire" people interested in ReactOS after monitoring them here. In this case, I would be out - I cannot be involved in anything thelike. Nothing...

Re: Organisation of non-developers?

@ Witch: I am uncertain as to what to make of your comments about some certain "Morpheus". You should know, however, that I neither have nor would have any interest in any "twilight" schemes and some "weird truths" etc. What I do, I do openly. I am kindly requesting an explanation and actually consi...

Re: Organisation of non-developers?

Dear Witch, I cannot but smile at the way our ideas or efforts seem to cross here again, for eventhough I am rather new on these forums, it is not the first time. My motivation is simple - try to help ReactOS though not being a developer, and having rather limited time. My means, too: "Try to figure...

Re: for Aleksey - ARWINSS

Forgive me if the following question sounds naive as I am no developer, but following what you said - is there not any chance to run ARWINSS concurrently with your present Win32 subsystem? I imagine this could look like the "compatibility mode" on WinXP, you know, when you want to run things in Win2...

Re: for Aleksey - ARWINSS

One thing that has been going through my mind, maybe I should start a thread for that in its own right: How do you think of running emulators ON ReactOS? In particular, the newest version of Wine? - This newest version, as far as I read, can run Cygwin. - So, you would profit twice: All the apps tha...

Re: Organisation of non-developers?

Dear all, I have received an answer to my question that I mentioned in an earlier post here. I shall research the topic on my own further, but I am giving here a copy of my correspondence, so that if anyone in the future or in parallel with me wishes to take a look at the EU support issue he or she ...

Re: Organisation of non-developers?

OK, apparently the EU has something like an FP7 programme that could be of interest for you. See http://cordis.europa.eu/documents/documentlibrary/90798681EN6.pdf I have actually written to the office responsible for this project, asking them whether something like ReactOS might be eligible, and if ...

Re: Organisation of non-developers?

Sorry, people, right now I am in the net rather sporadically - the last quarter of each year is the busiest one in my company, so I cannot be all too frequently in chats etc. What I am going to do: look a bit at the possibility to get some kind of sponsorship through the European Union; somewhere I ...
