Re: Which your favorite programming language??

BASIC. Such as in QBASIC. Yeah, you can dissent if you like. But for the purpose of its existence, I find it brilliant, namely to quickly create or understand rather small programs. I'm not saying you can make Office in it. But I am saying that most people do not want to make Office anyway. I once m...

Re: React OS will not boot after install?

OK, it might be offtopic here and I have not tried the release myself yet, but I just wanted to say:

A VERY BIG THANK YOU! :)

(I believe criticism must be positive, too, when it is deserved, and while I do not expect wonders, I am only too happy to congratulate the developers for the new release.)

Re: Alternativeto - ReactOS

I see it has been liked 6 times already (and I liked it, too)... so it is beating Vista, with only 1 "like". ;)

Re: The Linux Unified Kernel

@ rembrandt:

Thank you for the driverpacks thing! I had no idea such a repository existed...

Maybe this should just be mentioned somewhere in an easily visible manner?

Re: The Linux Unified Kernel

Maybe I am wrong, but is this whole driver topic not maybe a bit "over-valued"? - I mean, as opposed to Linux, the drivers ALREADY EXIST. They are just not open-source... but then again, do they have to be? - Like, fine, the drivers are not open source, so what? - If they can be somehow supplied, ma...

Re: Organisation of non-developers?

YIPPIE! HERE is just exactly the type of university we need: http://derstandard.at/1259280712919/Universitaet-Erlangen-Nuernberg-erforscht-Open-Source This is a German press article stating that the Friechrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen-Nürnberg in Germany is the first university in Germany to...

Re: 1.0.0 ETA

I think Windows can go down quite a lot - there existed such a thing as "Windows XP Embedded", see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_XP_editions#Windows_XP_Embedded Apparently, this thing could go down to 32 MB. Even if you say that maybe ReactOS will need, say, 60 or so with the elementary...

HAHAHA!... :D I am sorry, I know that the core issues of this dispute are quite important and deserve a discussion, but the way in which it is lead, I cannot stop awfully laughing about it! :D

Re: Organisation of non-developers?

Maybe we could tell how much financing we get in any given year? That would give anyone interested in this project a rough overview, and would not be particularly labour-intensive for the developers. Because if a sponsor compares "money invested" vs. "results achieved", he himself can figure out whe...

Re: A question about raw console mode in ReactOS

Maybe it should be mentioned that you CAN have DOS, just it has nothing to do with ReactOS: you can actually use the Dosbox emulator (if it is stable enough).

Re: Organisation of non-developers?

Allright, just for the general information: I am about to send a letter to a professor of the IT department of the technical university in my city. I am going to ask him in it whether they would be interested in ReactOS (as a university, or maybe he knows students who would be interested) and whethe...

Re: Organisation of non-developers?

Well done. So I assume things are clarified with the developers and ReactOS wishes to expand. That being clear, we can proceed. I would not mind a mailing list, but... after all, is that much different to a forum thread?? - Other than that, yes, I think a mailing list would be very reasonable. I wil...

BINGO! THAT is the kind of institution I was looking for, ALL THE TIME: http://www.forschungsrahmenprogramm.de/beratung.htm Apparently the people responsible for our area are in Cologne, possibly in Berlin as well: http://www.forschungsrahmenprogramm.de/nks.htm#IKT - For those who do not speak Germa...

ABOUT MEETING ON IRC: Alexey Bragin answered as follows: "Certainly I would be interested in talking with you. You're welcome to join IRC at any time, I'm available generally throughout the day and in the evening. Just come to #reactos-dev and leave me a private message. I'll respond if I'm around a...

Re: Organisation of non-developers?

As to developers, c'mon, it IS possible, I mean just look at this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KolibriOS http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MenuetOS I tested them a year or two ago, was impressive. Apparently, even the dark arts of assembler are not quite lost generally - as another example: http://board...
