Re: Very Nice but i have a few question

I second. On real hardware, it is actually ridiculously fast. The problem are just the drivers, as they are not bundled in the way Windows has them. (I.e., you will have to search for them yourself, and so far there is no guarantee that they will work.)

Re: ReactOS and USB

I am no developer, but just in case it is helpful: AROS is apparently having a USB stack now.

If it could serve as an inspiration...

Re: Virtual Machines

I just wanted to share what I saw... my jaw hit the floor, ReactOS on Qemu on FreeDOS, some day this has to be tried!

Re: When does 0.3.12 will come out?

Dear Haos, I fully consent, especially to your last explanation about leadership. I actually admire your leadership's patience. Yes, this is precisely what I meant: I doubt, things being as they are, that the developers are actually WILLING to be part of a more strictly coordinated project. (That is...

Re: When does 0.3.12 will come out?

Dear bugboy, I am very grateful that you are working on the USB support, you are having all my respect and gratitude for this. I think your field is an excellent example of the type of situation that I am remarking on: you are according to your own words not shying the effort in any way, and yet - t...

Re: When does 0.3.12 will come out?

But you know, people, the criticism of the roadmap is not quite wrong. The project looks indeed chaotic. I very much like it and hope it will finally lead somewhere, but large parts of this webpage is just misinformation, and it is NOT "everybody's duty to figure out which information is trustworthy...

Re: Not ready for prime time

Try installing Windows in a virtual machine. No seriously. While people might be ridiculing a bit your demand for high standards (after all, how many native Linux apps can Windows run?), it is understandable that for specialised things you may wish to run Windows; I suggest you try it in a virtual m...

Is this a bug?

I mistyped http://www.reactos.org/de/index.html+ and got a funny screen: A problem has been detected and RosCMS has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA If this is the first time you have seen this error screen, restart your browser. If this screen appears a...

Re: 99 man effort.

The idea which dark mentioned, namely, "If it switches from people working on specific applications to people working on general parts and many applications starting to work, then I'll believe there's significant progress," is something to which I fully consent. That is the very idea of an OS, is it...

Re: 99 man effort.

Please allow me to set out in the beginning that I do not wish to enter into any debates of any person here. I read Aleksey's presentation. I am no developer so my ability to judge is limited. But I did see some interesting points in it. Apparently the core of the problem is whether to stick to the ...

Re: 0.3.11 Bootlogo.

Well... I know there are technical objections, but I actually DID like Windows 3.11 itself, too. :P I used it for quite a time on an old laptop, and wrote a lot of my university stuff on it. And I really did not care about this 16bit vs 32 bit story, because for me it WORKED, and did it nicely. 8-)

Re: test on REAL HARDWARE

Well... that is an idea which did not occur to me (as I did not know such a thing even existed). I guess a much bigger priority should be USB mice: who cares what touchpad I have; but everybody can buy a USB mouse. Besides, I somewhere read of touchpads having an internal USB-connection instead of a...

Re: test on REAL HARDWARE

Allright. This thread might be a bit old, but I am attaching to it as a TEST ON ACER ASPIRE 3634 WLMI IS WHAT I JUST DID! :D - This is a laptop from 2006 and it is my main machine - not THAT old I would say. I just found such a model on e-bay, too: http://cgi.ebay.at/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3...

Re: Which your favorite programming language??

BASIC. Such as in QBASIC. Yeah, you can dissent if you like. But for the purpose of its existence, I find it brilliant, namely to quickly create or understand rather small programs. I'm not saying you can make Office in it. But I am saying that most people do not want to make Office anyway. I once m...

Re: React OS will not boot after install?

OK, it might be offtopic here and I have not tried the release myself yet, but I just wanted to say:

A VERY BIG THANK YOU! :)

(I believe criticism must be positive, too, when it is deserved, and while I do not expect wonders, I am only too happy to congratulate the developers for the new release.)
