Re: Something for your lawyers...
Let me make this plain: Their reply on the GitHub page is RIDICULOUS, and NATURALLY they would reply that way. Like, what the hell do you think will they say? "Hey, you caught us, we totally infringed your logo and brand"? They act defensive. And while I am by no means trying to give you &...

Something for your lawyers...
Look at this: https://facebook.github.io/react/ Now this "React", with a logo very similar to yours, is practically served on the silver plate. And it belongs to Facebook. You might consider squeezing them for money. This is plainly shameless. Seriously, talk to your lawyers, cases have be...

Re: 6600 Microsoft developer on Windows
I think if OP proves anything, it is that ReactOS devs are like a few hundred times more efficient than MS devs. This battle will not be won by having PERFECT compatibility: it will be won by having SUFFICIENT compatibility. That matter is far from settled either way, but so far, ReactOS is doing GR...

Re: Upcoming Libre Office 5.4 to be last to support XP
As jimtabor mentioned, the underlying issue is not actually Office. The underlying issue is that ReactOS shall not turn into FreeDOS. That is, an "antique / memorial OS for dead software".

Re: Comparison ReactOS with Haiku
Haiku did not manage a realease for an eternity. "But take the nightlies"... yeah, go take the nightlies yourself. The point is: releases are POINTS OF REFERENCE. When you say, "I got version A.X. and it got a bug", then people will try to sort it out WITHIN A.X. If the only answ...

Re: ReactOS in future-Compatibility
The fact is, the driver situation is changing - or HAS changed. In the past, it was Linux who was lacking drivers. Nowadays, it is often Windows - because many nice things that used to work under XP are no longer supported. So yes, "foreign driver model" and so on and so forth are surely T...

I think this thread should no longer be permanently on top. It was useful at the time, but has not been updated in years.

Re: Is there any SSH server?
No, there is no SSH-server that I would know of. I was busy researching that in-depth, actually. Long story short: Some servers get you so far that you can "log in", BUT... you are NOT getting a shell. FreeSSHd & Kpym looked most promising, but did not work, last time I checked. What w...

Re: ReactOS audit
Well, how often does Microsoft audit its code to make sure nobody of their devs smuggles in programs in breach of the GPL?
The reality is: having an established rule-set is all that can be required. NOBODY does "permanent audits". And nobody has to.

Re: ReactOS developers number
The point is, ReacOS is way beyond "the initial fun stage". And while they permanently stress it is not for everyday use, it is CLOSE to that. Now you need to handle compability issues, implementation details, etc. Not "fun", but the "last 20% which require 80% of the work&q...

I confess: I totally like the current logo. The atom nicely reflects the "experimental" nature of the OS, as well as the difficulty of a task no less than a personal Manhattan project...

Re: ReactOS NT design
"Better" ... does not even matter. ReactOS is, to date, THE ONLY successful open-source-clone of Windows. You have NO choice besides ReactOS if you want a free and open system. In Unix-land, you have the choice from IllumOS to Minix, from NetBSD to Linux: and they quite different between e...

ReactOS #22 on Distrowatch
You are right after FreeBSD, and before Lubuntu, Xubuntu, Gentoo, Red Hat, Solaris, OpenBSD and a lot of other household names.
Yeah, it may not "mean much", but it definitely means you are getting attention...
