Yes, we do know what you were suggesting. What we did not expect, is that you refuse to understand the unpracticability of you idea. You are welcome to prove that we are wrong, you can just convert your proposal into some solid code and present it. You cannot, on the other hand, force anyone into c...

You mean a enhanced version of the XP like ZIP Folder Thing which can be folder or drive? If so, well might work. But only on non solid archives. solid ones can only be extracted in one stream. onthese it would be hell slow Did you ever used Zip Folders (not the MS zip-folder, but a special utilite...

Почему до сих пор не вынудили oracle? Opera?

I think it would be good to have ability to work with archives as convertional folders or to mount them as separate drives. It is very annoying to pack and unpack large ones. Well there are people who think otherwise.

Ok. Thank you. I've just made a suggestion for the future. I did not expect such large scale of personal attacks from people who even did not and did not want to realise what I am suggesting. I have some other ideas but it seems people here arent interested in any of them.

Archives are local. They can be treated as any other disk image containing file table. I just tried WinMount. It is not shell extention, but also not a file system driver. And yes, it has numerous hacks. Mounted disk images and archives the system views as USB drives attached to the computer. It als...

As I already poited out shell extention has numerous disadvantages in functionality over FS driver. And about which "interaction with user" do you speak? SMB also needs interaction with user. Note that my proposal consisted not only of ability to mount FTP and HTTP locations, but also some special f...

You do not understend what I am talking about. I do not suggest to turn FTP into something else. I do not suggest using it instead of SMB. In fact there are many resources in the Net which available through FTP. FTP is widely used. Good it or bad, you cannot change this. FTP is one of basic protocol...

Possible? Yes, I suppose so. Again, good idea? No. You need the core filesystems to allow everything else to work. Note I said core there. This does not include every file system you can think of and shoehorn in. What are the criteria for core filesystem? Is mailslot filesystem a core filisystem? I...

I asked a number of the ROS developers on the feasibility before I posted. Trust me, it's possible. A service would quite possibly be necessary, but that's a far cry from a driver, or an IFS. Let's trust them. But probably any other file system support also may be possible without drivers then? The...

Do you consider the same for online monetary transactions? If there's one place encryption is needed, it'd be the internet. Heck I don't even use FTP these days. I have one user on my VPS that has an FTP account, and the FTP daemon only lets that one user in. I prefer to use SSH with a private and ...

Nope! I'm not even sure it exists. But it's definitely possible, and without relying on kernel-space wacky hijinks. I never heared of anything like this working without drivers or services. Well, public opinion does seem to be against you. Not sure if you noticed that or not. I mean, it's only been...

"FTP has the same functionality as HTTP. Do you really know what is FTP????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Well. If you are sooooo sure, then explain me. (I already know but its too fun :-P) "NC can open network drive. It cannot open FTP location." Then use FileZilla "How????" Share a Network Drive??!!? How can...
