You mean like in August/September? I know I would be interested in things then when the GSOC wraps up.

I see peak search activity was around 2006-2007. That was around the time of the coding controversy.

Re: Things we can do better than Windows

Probably asking the impossible, but: what if updates could be installed without requiring a reboot. ;) Asking the impossible, yeah :) There are some actions that needs a reboot to be performed. Substituting a critical part of the system needs a reboot to be performed(i.e a binary which is in use) Y...

Re: Current RAM requirement

 Windows 95 was more stable for you than 98..? I find that really hard to believe..! In any case it seems explore is using more memory than it really should be... almost 30mb disable explore and ROS seems to run stable on only 55mb of ram. I've got explore 95 running stable with less than 59...

Re: New starfield screensaver for ReactOS

I tried it under XP and it works great. I thought is was a little sluggish, but I decided to rename the existing screen saver and copy it to the System32 directory to see if it had a control panel. In there, I could adjust the speed, rotation, and number of stars. And I played with the settings to p...

Re: Current RAM requirement

Not sure why Win98's ability to run well on a system means anything to ReactOS. Well, if an older machine won't even run 98, it probably won't run Reactos, though if RAM were the issue, it might. Many newer machines don't come with drivers for Windows 98 or ME (and some of the manufacturers say tha...

Re: Arwinss : Alternative names + logo request

As soon as the name is decided, I'm willing to design the logo. How about PlacebOS? Not sure. I like the sound. However, unlike a placebo, Reactos and Arwinss actually do something. Also, in science, placebos are used as controls. In our "experiment," Windows is the control, or more accurately, the...

Re: VMS developers?

So true. - But I had misread the name. I saw it as Rene, not Renee - "ay, there's the rub". And why the heck should it be an insult to be a guy? I AM a guy, and I feel great, every day I wake up. It is not that bad, really. Monty Python even wrote "The P*nis Song"! :) Here is one reason why that bo...

Re: Microsoft .NET Framework

I have downloaded the .net framework about 2 weeks ago, from a website that said that it was redistrubutable, the file was called dotnetfx.exe, which is something like 22Mb (dotnetfx32.exe is only about 2Mb and requires you to download files). The dotnetfx.exe does not run in revision 51472, at lea...

Re: Hi All

He said it's not plugged into USB. Yes, however, legacy USB mode keeps PS2 mice from working. On my system, it is the exact same thing, and both the latest official version and trunk (51818). 1. If you enable 2.0 mode, Reactos will hang the system on booting. 2. If you enable 1.x mode with a USB mo...

Re: The Funnies

I love jokes too, but I will have to be careful and not get carried away with blue humor. I love stuff like odd news, real things that are weird and very funny. You know, stuff like dumb crooks, or a mail carrier biting a dog. One book I liked was Disorder in the Court, and it had gems like this: De...

Re: VMS developers?

It is not easy to find, either - when you google "Ubuntu" or "Fedora", you land THERE. When you google Windows and clone, you might as well find Norton Ghost or similarly irrelevant pages. Actually, I searched that in Yahoo! using quotes and our page comes up first: http://search.yahoo.com/search?p...

Re: Things we can do better than Windows

Before this topic spans a few pages, allow me to tell you (and Z98) this: you basically agree with each other and there is little point discussing it further :) Maybe little clarification: If someone comes to irc "Hey, I have a problem, ReactOS BSODs when I <do something> on my 4-processor 32-cores...
