Re: Android question for you

You're not stating why it would be an advantage, so I'm not sure how much discussion you're provoking here. This diversity/fragmentation seems to have some serious drawbacks with regard to how fast updates to the operating system become available from a device vendor/manufacturer, and game developer...

Re: Diablo 3 and ReactOS | will be run?

Unfortunately you're right there. Blizzard typically uses DirectX but also has an OpenGL fallback option for their software. There's software OpenGL by Mesa/Mesa3D but that runs on your computer's central processing unit instead of the videocard. In other words, abysmal performance.

Re: ReactOS Fundraising 2012

With worldwide financial crises going on and thus people losing their job, I can see these donations helping to employ a developer hopefully for about a year. Or ofcourse if someone's got his own consulting firm, to keep them busy for a while with funding from these donations. With lots of employees...

Re: PR Ideas

Our primary testing team seems to have little trouble reinstalling drivers without any help from a dialog box. Then the wiki/documentation could do with a little bit of updating. So far the following steps seem required: * extract drivers from some archive as not everything installs properly throug...

Re: Feedback ReactOS 3.14

Most likely you're ending up with UniATA driver not recognising the chipset's IDE/SATA controllers so ReactOS has nowhere to install to. Trying in a virtual machine could work, see download page for releases that include QEMU. ReactOS should also be able to install to an USB drive on real hardware, ...

Re: basic ROS kernel ? ( basic Linux under ) NT-kernel wrapp

Combining FreeDOS and ReactOS isn't that hard, as DOS can be added to FreeLDR, and ReactOS can be loaded from (clean-booted) DOS using GRUB4DOS.
As for this Linux/Unix subsystem idea, wasn't there POSIX, Cygwin, CoLinux and all kinds of stuff?

Re: Feedback ReactOS 3.14

I'm not sure how usefull the LiveCD is, right now it appears to be used mainly to see if ReactOS boots up on real hardware without having the requirement of installing anything onto a physical drive (be it a harddisk or USB thumb drive). An installed ReactOS at least has some download program in whi...

Re: ReactOS for DirectX 11, is this possible?

I've always wondered how they'd want to get DX11, as DX11 seems tied to Vista/Win7 and thus to a drivermodel (WDDM?) beyond what XP/2003 use and what ReactOS aims for.
Perhaps Wine's conversion from DirectX to OpenGL will do the trick.

Re: Arm Development and Raspberry pi

My point of running ReactOS on the Raspberry Pi by using a Linux distro combined with a QEMU binary running on top of the proper ARM architecture but emulating x86 (or maybe even x86-64) is that you have a cheap dedicated machine for testing ReactOS on. It's not native hardware ofcourse, but using R...

Re: Arm Development and Raspberry pi

Whenever no native port of ReactOS to ARM, QEMU emulating x86 on this ARM board should allow ReactOS to barely run.
Getting a no-nonsense Linux that only starts QEMU, is another matter.

Re: LIve CD no [BOOT] folder

What programs did you try? IMGBURN seems to be worthwile. You need to download ReactOS (either official release or a recent trunk build) as a file. If it's a 7Z (7zip) file you downloaded, unpack/decompress it until you get an ISO file. If you had an ISO file anyway (usually only official releases) ...

Re: 0.3.14 and + drivers

You're not very specific I'm afraid, it would help if you could link to these drivers. (Google mentions not entirely legal collections of drivers). For end-users these drivers are fine (at your own risk etc) and it would be nice if they all work in ReactOS. It's very unlikely that such a driver pack...

Re: References on Wiki?

I have absolutely no idea what a "Run on VBox" page would even look like. You run ROS on VBox like any other OS on VBox. What exactly would there be for us to add? And considering the amount of trouble VBox gave our testers from a debugging perspective, we probably have more info on how to get debu...

Here's a nice motherboard for your x79 CPU that might make you go bankrupt: http://vr-zone.com/articles/asrock-s-x79-extreme11-has-a-very-fitting-name/15206.html (and for server processors there's http://www.evga.com/products/pdf/270-SE-W888.pdf , also making people bankrupt) It would be convenient ...
