Here you go: 1. Setup your partitions - You can use Paragon Partition Manager's floppy tool to do this work without installing anything that might confuse ROS. THIS STEP IS ONLY NECESSARY IN CASE YOU WANT TO INSTALL ROS ONTO PART OF A HARD DRIVE AND NOT THE WHOLE THING. I've never had trouble with u...

mf is really discouraging people for no important reason... For one thing, its not necessarily set in stone that its needed to use themes and make it look cool immediately -- ever tried Vista with the performance settings? XP will do the same thing on the performance geared mode. Plus, don't let the...

lol, Duh its not qemu. That problem is related to 8-bit palettes, and it may be related to a BUG in qemu, but it certainly won't effect in 32-bit, 24-bit, or 16-bit mode where palettes aren't used. Back on topic, What is it supposed to do? To be honest, I was unable to confirm that I could follow th...

To be honest, Icons that are simple aren't always cool. I don't see whats wrong with using that for RGB really, but i guess thats why I don't do icons. (Plus, i doubt your grandma would really need to know exactly what the icon means, after all, some people don't try to comprehend the shapes anyways...

OK, Thats valid completely. I guess its ok to just to fork MPC, but I don't see why it would be so bad to have a cool looking media player eventually, considering a lot of people will rate the OS by its graphics (If people went by quality or potential, then OpenGL would be a lot further already, Lin...

*sigh* Short: Licensing issues. Alt: Real is a bad player to use in the first place. It mis-uses resources. Alt 2: Real probably misses a few key features/supported-files that WMP has. The main point - Reals source code isn't availible under GPL 2. Nor Winamp's. Nor Foobar's. Nor basically any other...

Ged: Thats perfect, for a while. Don't make ReactOS fall behind, though, by beta I would think the priority of both graphics and efficient graphics would rise fast. A lot of people will dislike the OS because it looks old, regardless of whether or not thats a correct way to look at it. Plus: there r...

He is on skype right now, so maybe he just hasn't visited the ROS forum in a while. Anyone interested in talking to him, check and see if the "Online" button appears below the middle thing at the bottom (its the Skype chat button) or if you'd like to call him the rightmost thing at the bottom.

OPINIONS: All of these covers look great, but I'd say I'd prefer sticking with mfs because its already being used, it already fits the color scheme and it looks really good. Now, PNG vs JPG. Don't be too quick to think that PNG is worse than JPEG in compression!! PNG happens to have palleting, too. ...

To be honest, using the Firefox engine for something like that seems a bit over the top. I mean, I like Firefox, but even if it does leave a GENERALLY(as compared to WMP) small memory footprint (without big/inefficient plug ins such as Java) it doesn't seem exactly feasible. I think our best bet is ...

1000? I know theres 10000 people here but not all of them are active. 300 seems a little more reasonable to reach. And about 12 - it just seems more appealing and somewhat more professional than some of the others. At the time i just voted for it because it was my favorite, but a few came close, mos...

Partial Success with SCSI

Yesterdays nightly build was able to install itself to my SCSI hard drive and successfully recognize two different SCSI hard drives. Good Job! But of course, i couldn't come here unless i needed support, and i do. I might want to try the new release, but i managed to miss it on the front page. 1. Wh...

1. Luna sucks, Royale is much better even if its not the best. 2. ReactOS is going to end up using UXThemes, which in turn makes it support a crapload of themes from every version of Windows. 3. Hopefully in the end the WindowBlinds will work and we will have a DWM compatible compositing engine. Thi...

Use C and only C. People can't seem to get it straight, but there are actually reasons behind using C even if it look like its hard. Just look at simple examples. Oh, and also, I kinda think ReactOS should use MPlayer or FFMPEG even if it might not have a component that an equivalent exists for in w...

Desktop environments are not part of the Operating System. You might argue about this due to the fact Linux distributions include them. Obviously, every distribution ever made can't have its own in house GUI environment. Plus, Linux users often vary in taste related to the points of the GUI which ar...
