Hah, Lonely me supports gnash. Actually, I support a total rewrite - I have the opinion that its a great idea but its code is terrible in the sense of its dependencies. It requires all of these damn libraries like Boost even though its supposed to be portable...

First one: Very crappy wrapper written in batch. Second one: Maybe useful, but they don't do anything ReactOS truly needs, especially at this point.. Now, instead of flaming I'll explain the criteria for the kinds of sources useful: - File system drivers in some cases - Programs written purely in C ...

Games will be choppy unless one of those conditions become true. I didn't say any of them were. So, currently, Wait for ReactX, Convince them to add OpenGL support to Vmware, or if you run NVidia hardware, take your time to figure that out. Its well worth it.

Tux Racer uses OpenGL. Any OpenGL game will run slow UNLESS: a. Your in VMWare, And for some reason they added OpenGL acceleration to VMWare. (Currently, VMware lacks any OpenGL acceleration) b. Your in VMWare, And ReactOS has DirectX support, and you have GLDirect installed (currently, ReactOS can ...

Lol. That makes me laugh. No, Using a custom start menu will not break compatibility. Ever. Only if you tried to change the layout of files, but thats not even smart. Other than that, its no different than XP having its own start menu or Vista having its own. See, you may or may not know that the on...

Too true. Microsoft could destroy computing as we know it today, so, I'd rather not depend on them for .NET apps when I'm using an alternative.

Yes and no. Obviously WINE has no exact standard, and originally it was made using specs. Now it is mostly fueled by bug fixing, cleanups and implementations. ReactOS? Sure they work towards some applications. Developers from ReactOS worked restlessly on getting Firefox and smb-tng working. I walked...

wha? I can install VMWare tools VGA driver fine using MSI. No, really. In the recent version the problem where it crashes at feature select is gone. (Good thing, it looked like a one-version problem anyways, since the version before didn't have it.) And about the "basic OS experience" thing - I thin...

First: Don't call it a DOS part. Text mode != DOS, though i don't blame that its popular. Second: If you have two computers nearby enough to hook a serial cable (I don't :( ) go get one and try to see what its outputting. Someone else give the full instructions, I can't because i don't know because ...

Sorry if bumping this is a bit of a stretch, but Starcraft and Warcraft II BNE work great in Wine and i believe as long as there is DirectDraw support it should work (DirectSound may cause it to not work, not sure.). If not now for sure when ReactX is running decently you'll be able to play older ga...

Those won't run in ReactOS yet. The main reasons are API and i believe hooking related and will be fixed with some time.

A surprising amount of games have OpenGL modes. This means some games with stunning graphics will currently run on ReactOS - Its a matter of getting DirectX implemented and making more drivers work. Of course, its not top priority to do either at this point, so don't expect it to be too soon.

The only real alternative that will get it to boot is some sort of IDE drive. I doubt it will BOOT into a USB drive, but i know the USB stack is somewhat their. The sort-of-real-but-kinda-fake alternative is to use your BIOS to try to make it emulate your SCSI harddrives as IDE ones, though, there i...
