Re: System sounds volume control

You'd need the Vista/NT6 sound archictecture in order to achieve this. Which means you need Vista/NT6. I have looked into ways of doing this on XP and found one potential method but it would be very hacky and would only work for standard MME API sound playback (ie, DirectSound wouldn't be controllab...

Re: [suggestion] UniAUD

Why not just port directly from ALSA?

No point in doing a port from a port...

Here we go with the targeted-at-Bill-Gates comments again... Bill Gates is not Microsoft.

Re: ReactOS Slogan

I don't think it would be particularly tasteful to have an offensive slogan, especially one targeted at an individual person (not to mention one which will be unaffected by ReactOS now anyway...)

Re: Image for MIDI interface.

Just to add my thoughts to this... I'm not a big fan of the speaker icon used for the control panel applet (the one shown in the screenshot). At a first glance it does not immediately look like a speaker - it looks more like a tube with something in the middle of it. It's a speaker cone, sure, but t...

Re: Why ROS need a new licence

There's no point in changing a licence solely because it's "old".

Re: Message Translator

Partly inspired by the existing message translator, along with some tinkering around with awk scripts, I've started making some command-line tools which do a similar job to the message translator. They can be obtained here: http://stuff.silverblade.co.uk/reactos/techtools.zip At present there's a co...

Answering your post's subject line:
Yes. It is "for real".

There are many people who are eager to see ReactOS reach beta, and of course even version 1.0.

But, if you have any way of helping out, why wait until the product is finished? :)

E-mailing the developers with this question as well is not going to yield an answer much faster than asking once and waiting for a reply.

As has been pointed out, VST is effectively a plugin architecture for music applications on the Windows platform. It is supported by WINE, yes. It should therefore work with ReactOS. Good luck with that though as we don't have support for audio hardware at present, nor even software audio filter dri...

This is so sad its funny.

Why be another "me me me" project? Do something useful rather than for the sake of trying to make yourself look popular.

Otherwise you face epic fail, my friend.

Development help from Google? Or this Tsvetan guy? I asked him if he can write C code - apparently he knows a little bit but not much. I just found some interesting snippets from my IRC log (edited to filter out the other conversations going on at the time - some random lines do remain): http://stuf...
