ReactOS Test results 2012/08/10

I am a bit short of time this week, so I am yet to expand upon the list of apps I have tested.

This weeks results are from Build 57055

http://reactos.projectmayu.com/

No hardware tests as of yet, will have to reallocate a PC for this job.

Re: ReactOS Future cross-compatibility

Some programs do just check the OS version number, but there are others that actually check for implemented methods and functions (in fact this is the method that Microsoft Recommends) As long as the functions and methods are implemented, I see no problem with faking the Windows versions. Faking a s...

Re: User created News on ReactOS development

My first Test review for ReactOS is up http://reactos.projectmayu.com/

Did not get very far, but it looks like the App installer is fixed, that's definitely a WIN.

Re: User created News on ReactOS development

I was thinking of reviewing a trunk build each week (Maybe Friday +10UTC), and posting the results.

Re: How about "Metro UI"?

Lots of people like the windows 8 desktop mode, have not found anyone that likes Metro, usually too cluttered comes first to their mind, then the what one app takes up the entire screen. Windows 8 defiantly needs to have a better mouse and keyboard experience. Some things to note though, Microsoft s...

Re: Arm Development and Raspberry pi

The Idea, I put up was, Cheap computer, that users can test with, and bugs can be replicated, since every one would have the same hardware. A sort of OS stability, not so much the running of existing apps. Once the OS is stable, we the general app programmers can make test apps, to test functionalit...

Re: Arm Development and Raspberry pi

BrentNewland - is not info about what the exe runs on in the header of the EXE (that's how windows determines if the exe is x86,x64 or CE, and ARM in the case of Win8), i don't think you need different extensions for each processor type of file. You just need to determine the type of CPU it needs, a...

Re: Arm Development and Raspberry pi

Some very good points have been brought up, in this thread. At this point I don't care if it runs ? app But for testing say USB, video, and OS stability, it would be good, as everyone would have the same device, making it easier to find X problem. If such a version was made, even I could make some t...

Re: Arm Development and Raspberry pi

I remember seeing a video of Steve Ballmer, demoing and "upcoming version of windows" that looked much like Windows 7, where he installed and ran an x86 app on Nvidia Tegra 2 (ARM), I cannot remember if it was a CES or Build video though.

Arm Development and Raspberry pi

Since the Raspberry pi (http://www.raspberrypi.org/), is so cheap with the Highest price being Australia $38 + the cost of an SD card.
I wonder would this accelerate the development of the Arm version of React OS, since their can now be more people with devices to test.
