Re: Making Win32 DYNAMIC Libraries (DLLs) from STATIC Libraries.
Ok great mingw reworked there site on me. http://www.mingw.org/MinGWiki/index.php/sample%20DLL Ok so this is the issue. Autotools stuff now this is worse than what you are dreaming. Gcc is exactly where I learnt how bad this nightmare is. The static libs in gcc need a source code rework to produce d...

Re: ReactOS is no threat to Windows.
I am simply not ignoring your arguments. I am ruling them out. That something works better as desktop were is that in the description of Reactos. This is the simple issue. You are expecting knowledge that 2003 makes a good desktop. Next question how many people use it that way. Very few. So there ey...

Re: ReactOS is no threat to Windows.
Correct PR is required to attract and keep as many developers as able. Zvince. Kinda key to getting to Reactos long term goals sooner. It is also my main reason for ripping into Haos. Current Reactos Docs are giving the wrong impression leading to some people seeing Reactos targeting a smaller marke...

Re: ReactOS is no threat to Windows.
Start>My Computer>Settings>Control Panel>System>Advanced tab>Settings>Advanced>Cpu time usage: Programs/Services. Both Desktop and Server NT has it, at least from WIn2000 if not even earlier. First is defaulted on desktops, second on server OS. You can set it as you please. Point is ROS does not so...

Re: ReactOS is no threat to Windows.
GoBusto you just found exactly what I wanted you to find. If a person had stopped at the front cover. Ie the home page they would not be saying Reactos was for server. So no there is a issue there. Forget what you know about Reactos and read it again. Microsoft Windows® XP compatible nice little gre...

Re: Making Win32 DYNAMIC Libraries (DLLs) from STATIC Libraries.
Incorrect JimGunn. I will help a person with building dlls that are stable and don't have strange problems. static to dll there are quite a few traps. Its safer not to do it. We don't have to help people create problems for themselfs or others. Basic ones dll and application have two different inter...

Re: ReactOS is no threat to Windows.
There is another option to Roadmap listing everything. Its like the Linux Weather Forecast. Complete list of features and goals the project has. Linux Weather Forecasts was also created because of the same kind of issues with media. Its not just the roadmap GoBusto just take yourself on a tour of th...

Re: ReactOS is no threat to Windows.
I am sorry to have to say haos not seeing that the call is right. Linux base is the same as well when desktop or server. Here is the but. When reading roadmap of Linux Distributions you can pick targeted markets by what is covered. Reactos Roadmap reads as one targeted more to server usage and as po...

Re: ReactOS is no threat to Windows.
GoBusto For the home user, the main problems are: + Is it simple to use? + Does it run all of my old programs? + Is it free (as in beer)? Is it simple to use. Major issue for Linux is packaging in that regard. Nvidia and ATI drivers cannot be provided cleanly in compatible format for all distros tha...

Re: ReactOS is no threat to Windows.
Linux threat is desktop. There are many key reasons why Mac will work for a while for Vista getting away people. Its going to run into trouble when it comes to business security integration. Major issues of Linux will end. Closed source will be allowed on Linux lot simpler. This is a major change a ...

Re: NTFS-3G: Read-Write Open Source Linux NTFS FUSE Driver
NTFS-3G is safe from the point of view it will not destory a NTFS partition.
Its not safe for OS running on use. Reason it can loss means to write to the NTFS partition without windows help. So not fully functional.

Re: ReactOS is no threat to Windows.
Sorry to say the author of this http://blogs.zdnet.com/open-source/?p=2425 is right to a point. Sponsors are required to get Reactos out of the hobby market. So ways to get them have to be looked at. Reactos currently is no threat to windows market share and it will be a while before it will be read...

Project Looking Glass birth the ideas of compiz on X11 and vista interface. Problem with Project Looking glass its that is heavy. Way heavier that compiz or vista's. The number of changes that are being need in X11 to make compiz work stable with all its features is a lot. Vista had to have a comple...
