Re: Why ROS need a new licence

Yes the GPLv3 restriction has some good points. It also has some downsides. Some markets like phones like have DRM. Changing licence is a messy process you don't do it unless there is a more valid reason than that someone might abuse the source code. Its more often someone has or it will allow bette...

Re: Microsoft working hand in hand with ReactOS...

avaterpatch its a lot more complex than you are giving credit for. Wine wined3d is used with some emulators with windows to translate to opengl since emulator does not provide a Direct X interface other than software. So being compatible with it is a requirement. Nice advantage this already works wi...

http://www.pablosoftwaresolutions.com/html/ftp_wanderer_source_code.html Really 250 dollars latter you get the source under what license. I can get the complete source code of XP for the correct money too. Of course with a full NDA that I could not work on this project or give the source to anyone e...

Re: Microsoft working hand in hand with ReactOS...

There is a branch working on fixing up the Reactos kernel so it can run Direct X. Reason why it does not work at moment is internal errors in Reactos. When fixed Direct X MS or Reactos own React X will work. The side branch working on fix the problems can already run bits of Direct X. There is also ...

Re: Microsoft working hand in hand with ReactOS...

Its not just personal bad feeling. Some of it is pure Why. Number 1 in a Anti-trust case against Microsoft. Microsoft would be able to use Reactos to protect them. What in turn could see Microsoft not forced to release documents Reactos could use to expand its compatibly. So effectively killing us. ...

Re: Implemented or Not

So a wine one with more detail? Wine one works by running testcases that is something ros has to produce anyhow to detect regressions and other problems. If test cases are complete all unimplemented should be found. Keeping a database of Implemented or not is hard. Wine also uses another method. htt...

Re: Website Text Correction Documentation

This thread exists basically for any everywhere issue that we are not sure of. Or something that we suspect could cause heated debate that needs to be sorted out to avoid damaging wiki page massively. Yes most of the time the wiki. This is just here if we need it. Wiki are fairly bullet proff. And I...

That would far better than my first attempt. It clears up the everyone being taken as everyone server everyone desktop or any other error like that. Something extra on the about page and roadmap and its almost percent covered. Since that would add a point to say here journalist you missed this. Plea...

Re: Making Win32 DYNAMIC Libraries (DLLs) from STATIC Libraries.

You keep on missing it. Changing the autotools without correcting the source ends up with a paper weight. The autobook is still correct for the required source alterations. Yes there are a lot of them. Now not everything has changed either. configure.in alteration is still the same. There is somethi...

Re: Making Win32 DYNAMIC Libraries (DLLs) from STATIC Libraries.

Alter 1 bit and pray about the other latter. Sorry this is not going to work. Getting so __declspec(dllexport) is on all functions and data that are pointers. No point building a dll if its a lemon. It is return to simple dll building get the sources right and move the way up. http://www.ensta.fr/~d...

Re: Making Win32 DYNAMIC Libraries (DLLs) from STATIC Libraries.

The major job is not changing autotools to build the dll. Making sure that all exported bits are flaged as exported when they pass threw the complier and get turned into objects. So you get a working dll not something that can segment fault on you. Next making sure that when you get to running exe's...
