Re: European Union Dotation

Hi, I know and have done it several time but guys this is about science funding. Forget the idea to get funds to pay a developer. To succeed you have to present a good proposal in line with a funding call and to form a consortium of big corporations, SME and academics from various parts of the EU. I...

Re: Linux based Reactos

>> How many non-professional kernel developers in the world can program 2 kernels at once? - There is nobody on Earth that could write even *one* kernel alone! - Even simplistic kernels like Minix 1.* series were written by a students team. - One hundred people were needed for the first Windows kern...

Re: Is it possible to quantify the amount of ReactOS LEGOs?

You can read on the Web a detailed amount of resources used at Microsoft to design and code Windows NT. This was lead by someone having a good experience of OS design. And to understand the metrics you have to understand that the "developers" are not the minds behind an OS, the minds are the project...

Re: NT 3 and 4 Driver Model

There is a difference between NT3, NT4 WDM in one hand and 2000/XP WDM drivers in the other hand. The old OSes use the IRP method that originated in DEC's VMS. Later it was decided that IRP was to much complicated so a new way was devised that was called fastIRP. In fact it was a complete U-turn tow...

NTFS proof of concept

Hi all, After years of unsuccessful and clandestine hacking with NTFS and Reactos, this evening I was able to mount and make a kind of DIR (the directory shell command) from Reactos 0.2.6 on root in a Windows XP SP2 NTFS partition. In fact there are less progress as it could seems as some parts of t...

Re: Linux based Reactos

If we put apart the inelegant usage of the word "leech", it's obvious you didn't had a look at LUK code.
There are very small, if any REACTOS code in it.

Re: winetests/kernel32/kernel32.rbuild regression

Thanks Lone_Rifle for your effort and dedication to regression testing. I think there are only few in Reactos community that use professional methodology like you do (The project leader being another person by asking for testing on Windows before committing anything). Quality is essentially the frui...

Re: FutureAlpha OS

* No GPL doesn't prohibit commercial usage, in fact IBM is making one billion of turnover with Linux. * BTW FutureAlphaOS could be downloadable from their web site so I don't see where is the problem. * And about the one way process Reactos riped a lot of Open source projects, between 20 and 30, so ...

OK then I won't bother you anymore on this subject, Thanks Silverblade, thanks VicMarcal (may I kindly remark I am posting in off topic?). Thanks Z98 for saying that current Reactos is nearly compatible with Windows 2003 server. May I add that it is indeed even compatible with Windows Vista, 7 and S...

Re: Linux based Reactos

Thanks VicMarcal for the insightful remarks. * First I am not asking for Reactos to move to this new architecture, I am just asking about opinion about if we are close to see Linux distributions with embedded Reactos. * For your first proposal, does Wine make it possible to use all Windows based app...

Re: Linux based Reactos

Hi Haos, My question was not about the feeling of developpers, but about the possibility of a Linux based Reactos or something enough similar in a near future. That was I posted in this category I know the current developers hate Linux but every one interested in Reactos has not to share the ideas o...

Linux based Reactos

Hi, With the advent of Linux Unified Kernel I am wondering how much time will happen before we see a completly integrated Wine in a Linux Unified kernel (Linux + a portion of Reactos' Ntoskrnl). At least this would bring to us USB, read+write NTFS and WIFI plus execution of Windows application softw...
