i am a little confused about this: i know opengl works, but: are hardware vendors ICDs/ogl driver dlls working already, too?

so: can i use nvoglnt.dll or atioglxx.dll (or whatever they are called) an play e.g. glquake (opengl quake 1 port) with hardware acceleration in the current state of ROS?

just to clearify this a bit: VLC does NOT use DShow IIRC, since it supports codecs natively. this is quite nice as a feature, but, as already stated, could bring legal problems. in addition i think VLC got some stability problems, it crashed sometimes on my side.... but having DShow implemented, whi...

Other projects do this as well. Many Linux distributions have entire CDs devoted to additional applications, so I'm certain there's a reason why this is done :) yeah, there is a reason. the reason is: installing a new (minor) application in linux is work. you have to find it, decide on it, get the ...

just a thought: the "patch-shooter" idea could make people think of ReactOS as suffering from the buggy, fix-needing appearance windows shows now and then (when it comes to security), which is anything but good promotion...

impressing stuff, those driverpacks.... those really could be added to some enhanced distro. (i just hope there will be no distro-wars like at the linux side). seems like you can have all those drivers (compressed) in less than 140 MB :D would be cool, i just don't know if they are 100% legal, since...

yes, but it seems you don't understand the main reason. no need to port anything. when ROS gets compatible to win32 at a higher level, most windows applications and drivers will work, completely without source. just binary/compiled/whatever you want to call it.

hmm, interesting. this movement for driver sources is really nice. but the devs should try to get the existing binary drivers working first. but maybe source could help tracking down problems with driver....

ScummVM works!

hi folks! am in a hurry, just wanted to inform all of you that the fantastic adventure game interpreter ScummVM works in ROS (tested in snapshot from mid january, in virtual PC, should work on real hardware, too). it is a bit slow, and the second time when trying to move the window ROS froze... soun...

hey folks, stop this. this is senseless. what we need is not media player X or Y, what is needed is the supporting libraries/APIs, like DDraw, DShow, ACM (Audio Codec Manager), activeX and so on, cause without this, most media players WILL NOT WORK!!! and hell, MPC/VLC and all the others can be down...
