Re: Who posted ReactOS 0.3.5 to Sourceforge?

Having tried 0.3.5 with both VMWare and QEMU, I get either system freezes, reboots or BSODs when attempting to Download! Firefox 2. The progress bar gets between 20-50% of the way and then Something Goes Wrong.

Anyone else have this, or is it just me?

Re: Hi there. I am new here. need some info to catch me up...

So you dont think Beta will be out this year? I think it will not be out th ese year s . Well, ReactOS has been in 0.3.x for the last 12 months or so. I'm guessing that, with a little luck, 0.4.x will happen sometime in early 2009, with version 0.5.x (the first beta version) being reached sometime ...

Re: Help with installation

I downloaded the latest CD install and Life CD of ReactOS The latest stable version (0.3.4) or the latest SVN build ? 0.3.4 is pretty old now - the SVN builds are more up to date. Or you could wait for 0.3.5, which should be avalable in the next few days. Right now, though (SVN-34189), it looks lik...

I also think that the devs are a pretty cool bunch. Therefore I am stating it in this post.

Well done, devs, looking forward to 0.3.5.

See this thread.

Although I think that the issues with Firefox 3.0 are caused by the switch to a fully Cairo-based rendering system - the actual Gecko 1.9 layout engine should be fine.

Re: Does the internet work?

Sorry, ment to say Windows, w2k to be exact. It was said above that v3 didn't work in ROS, well, it don't work so good in windows ether  Well, it works , for a given value of "works" - all text appears as "_______" and some areas of the display are not redrawn unless you move your mouse over t...

Re: Does the internet work?

I tried FireFox 3 windows version and it seems like crap compaired to v2. Thrashed my hard drive at nearly every page for 15-30 seconds. And even after it settled down, with in a minute or so latter the drive would start up again on some pages even though there were no adds or anything that would n...

Re: 3D Desktop

How to get files into ReactOS (and browse the Internet) if you are running ReactOS inside QEMU: Burn the Firefox 1.5 or 2.0 installer (not 3.0 - ReactOS can't render it properly yet) to an .ISO disc image file (you can use Infrarecorder to do this). When you run QEMU, add the commandline option: -c...

Re: ReactOS Shdocvw.dll is allowing GeoShell to run on Vista.

I'm guessing that this is you . I tried installing Geoshell on ReactOS SVN (build 34145-rel) via QEMU 0.9 and QEMU itself froze (ie not just the emulated ReactOS) when I double-clicked the installer.exe file. VMWare was similar. I tried to run the installer.exe and the virtual ReactOS machine instan...

ReactOS uses SVN, not CVS.

Re: error

Try installing a more recent trunk build and see if the problem still occurs, since 0.3.4 is pretty old now - or you could wait until 0.3.5, which should be out sometime in the next few days.

Re: Does the internet work?

I cant figure out how to get the internet to come up If you mean "where is Internet Explorer/Firefox," you have to install such a program yourself - ReactOS doesn't have such a thing bundled with it (why not? See this post for a summary of the reasons). If you're using a milestone release such as 0...

Re: No bootable CD for installation

I found a neat little utility a while ago when I was trying to install ReactOS on an old tower which could not boot from CD. It booted from a floppy disk and presented the user with a list of available drives, so you could boot from the floppy drive and then continue on with the CD drive. Unfortunat...

Re: Suggestions for default programs in ROS

My only complaint is that you need a generic ReactOS web browser (with others optional), kind of like MS IE This has been discussed for a long time, and the result is: "ReactOS will not ship with any web browser." As for why, search the forum for any thread with the word "Firefox" in it .
