Re: Different distros of ReactOS?

MAC OS is only another linux "distro" in my eyes Wait, what? Linux is similar to BSD and Mac OSX is based on BSD code, but that's about it. Linux systems are all about the GNOME and the KDE and are bastards to get working right, whereas MacOSX is as simple as a particularly simple pie to use and is...

Re: The Impact of React OS

ReactOS is a 2003 clone so you are going to still be orphaned :(. Sorry I think he meant Windows 2000 is orphaned as in "unsupported, so you'll have to pay for a newer version of Windows" whereas ReactOS has an actively-maintained (read: supported) codebase and costs nothing to download. As for the...

I heard you don't have 3D yet. You heard wrong. See this screen-shot of Quake 3 from the ancient 0.3.3 release: http://www.reactos.org/media/screenshots/2007/ros_033_quake3_03.jpg Or this screen-shot taken by Haos: http://www.reactos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=6873&start=0#p58762 And DivXMan;-)...

2) What do the developers want to fix and how long do they hope to fix that in?
Technically, the answer should be "everything" and "the time that it takes to get to 1.0.0"

Re: Question about CMD.EXE implementation

From http://www.reactos.org/en/about_whatisreactos.html Focus at present is on developing ReactOS to a stage where it is capable of running most Windows drivers and applications "out of the box." This does not mean that ReactOS will stop there, however; as new features are added to Windows, our deve...

Re: Question about CMD.EXE implementation

What if it is found that something in XP is actually a bug. Do you slavishly immitate the mistake, or do you correct it? Just how far do you want to take "compatibility"? For example, Tweak UI has a small number of bugs; values aren't set correctly. Do you write a new utility that does it correctly...

Re: reactx ...

Now I get it. Its like another OS inside an OS that take over completely the graphics device. It is a bit tricky to understand how the OS managed to blend the DX with GUI in window mode. Anyway, at least now I get the idea what happened behind the scene for fullscreen mode. In that case, the closes...

Re: 1:1 MSPaint clone - not ? but !

Since the Paint clone is now part of the ReactOS source tree, perhaps any new bug reports should be filed in Bugzilla (and assigned to gyROS/bfreisen) so that they may be tracked more easily.

Re: what about shells?

I'm sure a few people have tried using LiteStep or other shell replacements in the past, but I don't recall any of them working. Try the various trunk builds in a virtual machine every now and again and see how successful you are. As Emuandco said, even if it doesn't work right now it will eventually.

Re: ReactOS Downloader

Which version of ReactOS did you use? 0.3.x or a trunk build?

Trunk builds are much more up to date than 0.3.x releases so you might want to try using the latest trunk boot CD.

Re: Re:

Remember that old Greek theory? A group of people simply sit around and discuss something for long enough and eventually figure out what would happen based entirely on logical conjecture, without actually testing their proposed theory with a practical trial. That's what this thread is like. And now ...
