Re: Install shutdown PC at teh copying file process
Hello all... I was so excited to try a new OS, but alas, when i boot form CD and start install, the PC shuts down(not reboot) at the part where it says copying files, about 15 seconds into that. I am installing on an Asus MB, P5B with AMD dual core and Asus Video card.... Anything i should try and ...

Re: Different distros of ReactOS?
This isn't really a "distro" - it's more like those programs that PC manufacturers use to auto-install extra software with store-bought Windows machines when a user first boots them.

You seem to be implying that SQL is not secure. As a programmer whose background lies in relational database design, I would have to disagree.coldReactive wrote:And why SQL of all things? Isn't Windows supposed to be SECURE?!

Re: ReactOS run on my laptop?
To me, Vista is a terrible OS and can barely run games with a smooth fps, and the security is to strict on Vista. To me, ReactOS is an alpha OS and can barely run games and the security is too basic on ReactOS. Please bear in mind that ReactOS 0.3.9 is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not featur...

Re: ReactOS on an very old notebook?
Hey there, i got a very old notebook(50 Mhz, 16 MB RAM, Monochrome Display) and I would like to try ReactOS on it... I know, its under the minimum requirements but i think its worth a try  The problem is that it has only floppy and no cd, so i would need to split it up in 1,44 MB parts and in...

Re: How much Time did it take to create Windows, Debian, Mac OS?
It took 2 years to create the first version of Windows. First, there was DOS, which has nothing to do with NT. Then there was Windows 1.0-3.11. These were not operating systems, they were just front-ends for DOS. Windows 95-ME were full-on operating systems but they have little in common with the N...

It is worth noting that you can click and drag the color toolbar around in XP and Vista, so perhaps this behavior could be recreated in the gyROS version at some point.frmariam wrote:4- Move the collorbox to the bottom (please).

Re: Cannot find hard disk?
So I downloaded the Installation Disk (The Non-Live CD since that doesn't work on my PC or Laptop, goes to a blank screen) When I insert the disc, press a key to go into the installation screen it says that it cannot detect a hard disk in a red message box. Anyone know what's up? Did you download 0...

Re: Translating the BSOD
Optimistic view: This whole discussion should eventually become a moot point because ReactOS will never crash and so no-one will ever see the BSOD. Hence, it will be a case of Schrödinger's Translations.

Re: CMD from external project "Console"
ReactOS source code is generally supposed to be in C (rather than C++) unless a good reason can be given.
Also, ReactOS already has a cmd program, which is written in C.
