Re: Updated ScreenShots?

I thought the screen shots where partially to show the support for landmark applications. Since there has been a lot of internal work shouldn't more applications be functioning that are worth showing that "hey we can run that now". it is a bit easier to see new applications supported in the screen s...

Re: Screenshots? Why "screen" shots?

It seems like it may be possible to do something semi-automatically if there were a series of tests for each component and maybe showed what percentage of those tests passed/failed. I seem to remember that we already have a bunch of tests from wine that could be a starting point but we would probabl...

Re: USB Transfer Cables

I would prefer just saving the log to a file on the hard drive or my pen drive(maybe set the path on first boot up). Another option I would go for is allow the debug log to be saved to the floppy drive(assuming we don't have this functionality already) for the computers that still have floppy drives...

Re: CommandLine Icon concept

Personally I only mentioned Tango because I saw it being mentioned as a guideline to follow on other posts about icons. To me it seemed possible that the icon in this topic could have been following the guidelines already . weather or not we should strictly follow the guidelines in Tango I do not kn...

Re: my take on the ReactOS Logo

Looks fairly cool to me but I do think the blue balls are over-emphasized. they should be smaller and not as bright as to increase the focus on the point of the reaction(where maybe a slightly more colorful effect could be used though the current seems like a good start). Also I agree with Aape that...

Re: CommandLine Icon concept

looks neat

Questions:
how well does it scale?
would it go well with the rest of the icons?
does it follow the Tango Guidelines?

Re: "Designed for ReactOS" Logo

May also want to have a "ReactOS Only" type logo for programs that may use ReactOS specific API. To let people know that the program will not(or may not) work on Windows.

Re: "My Computer" Icon

here is a 16X16 icon I came up with using the colors specified in the Tango Guidelines(Note:I am not an artist and this is one of my first attempts at drawing at pixel level).Hope you guys like it. It is in png format and I used Paint.Net to make it(open source photoshop alternative). http://img116....

Re: Idea - Regpatch + Appdirs

Actually it can be ok, but not all programmers take all the precautions to keep their program from having problems in the case of a change in the registry. Basically it is the mindset of "I read it already, why do I need to read it again" which in a some areas of programming can be beneficial for op...

Re: Idea - Regpatch + Appdirs

From how I understood in my last post each program would only see the base registry + the patches for that appdir(so that every program would have a clean registry to work with). Thus it would not be able to read writes done by previously installed programs like acrobat reader. I was merely attempti...

Re: Idea - Regpatch + Appdirs

On point 2 I would mention that some programs do have dependence on things like adobe acrobat reader,Windows Media Player, ect. They may use the registry to detect if these exist before using the api's provided by these programs. Under this system they would never be able to detect if these were inst...

Re: Idea - Regpatch + Appdirs

Here is an idea that I posted a while ago that could possibly make use of the redirection idea being proposed by the Appdir scenerio. http://www.reactos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=5680&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a And on the RegPatch idea I believe a large portion of it is already a part of Windows XP...

isn't there a file system for Re-Writable discs that allows you to use them like a hard drive.Think the name was something like UDF. With that no wasted space.

Re: new ReactOS Explorer design

My idea is to make possible to prevent access to explorer from the internet browser. maybe by only allowing paths to files and not folders and/or use a folder access list. This type of thing should be a fairly buried option so it wont just get bypassed by a novice and most probably wouldn't want to ...
