Re: Microsoft released MS-DOS and Word source code to public

Then it will be better in the off-topic branch. It's useless. DOS 1.0? Kidding me, right? And Word in that state is even more useless, because even OpenOffice/LibreOffice supports recent file formats better than that thing. According to the blog post, they plan to release DOS 1.1 and 2.0 too....

Re: Blog: Walking in circles

Agree with the previous poster. And two quick off-topics: First, I actually like the new way of commenting on forum. The discussions are more lively and seem attract more people. I used to comment blog posts, but often either got no reply, late reply, or forgot to check for replies after a while. Ha...

I guess it is because someone have to compile them all. May be a good task for the community. :)

Re: New caption needs some adjustment!

Indeed. Though I had to explicitly shift-reload the page, as it was still badly aligned. A copy was probably sitting in some cache.
Also, the "R" in REVOLUTION is not shaded the same as the rest of the word. Is it on purpose? Is it supposed to allude to as it was "button depressed"/clicked?

Re: ROS testing on real hardware

It will depend on the converter chip used, internal buffers, etc. But for debugging even 9800 should be enough. :)

Don't forget to update this thread then, as it will be of interest to a lot of people.

Re: ROS testing on real hardware

What's the problem? I use another computer that has XP installed on it. It is not dedicated just for Putty to collect Ros debug info, I do use it occasionally for other purposes. I think the problem is that his other PCs do not have COM ports: I'm a bit stuck on the rather simple though annoying pr...

Note that this is not an exhaustive review of this code. It's just the

Re: [NEWS] ToGL open sourced

I'd say yes, but as usual, someone have to step-in and do it, so don't expect developers to jump on it right away.

Re: ROS testing on real hardware

You may try the other way around: boot your laptop w/o HDD with a Linux liveCD and start a terminal. Then you will have to get the debug log back somehow. FDD? IrDA? Network? (I suppose that since it uses a special HDD it may pre-date even USB.)

Re: avoid that reactos is vulnerable to hoax

Don't use software engineering to overcome social engineering problems, as there will always be a user to believe that there is a bomb inside his computer/phone/pad, and the he have to deep it in the water to defuse it.

Thank you for the explanation Black_Fox. I was not aware of this decision that predates 2007.

Re: What is needed to get ReactOS to work on real hardware

get a developer with lot of hardware to work on it I don't think it works this way. From what I have seen in other projects, usually it is an interested developer that gets/asks for some specific hardware and then debugs it and makes it work. Burring one developer under a pile of hardware is useles...

This most likely won't build by itself and is provided as-is and completely unsupported. Feel free to use it for your reference, incorporate it into your projects or send us modifications.
