Don't forget about 7-zip, it has an extremely good compression ratio and p7zip is available for unix users.

Yes, please create one. Frequently there's stuff about free software that I want to post that isn't about ROS, like about the GPL v3 or anonym.os .

Also, a section on Win32 apps wouldn't be bad either.

Trash should remain because often you have spam or other crap posted in the forums.

What's with the support database? http://www.reactos.org/?page=support and http://www.reactos.org/xhtml/en/support.html just have placeholders. However http://www.reactos.org/support/ leads to it. I see I can't enter info in it. Even if it's still in beta, as long as it retains info, I would like to...

I do think that if USB keyboard and mice support is only a month away or so, .3 should wait for that. Countless people are buying systems with only usb keyboards and mice now. But the recommended environment for testing is vmware player or qemu, not real hardware. USB is for 0.4 Quite true, I didn'...

ReactOS loads up a standard optical drive driver. Perhaps the CD isn't using CDFS/ISO9660 but rather UDF?

Nevertheless, when the support database is up, it will list hardware compatibility.

Fortunately DHCP works automatically so most people won't need to configure anything it if the graphics driver is installed. I do understand your trouble though. For example, in linux using ndiswrapper, I have to manually specify a router despite DHCP otherwise working. Update: the properties page f...

If you're installing ROS to a drive with other partitions on it, ROS may accidentally delete the other partitions. Backing up your MBR/partition table ( a snap in linux), if you know how to do it, is one way to safeguard against this damage though.

Yeah, ROS definitely has the potential to be the best overall OS for it, and many novice users would prefer it before it's the best simply because linux/unix in general is more complicated and unfamiliar to Windows users.

It is buggy and unstable (at least the kernel is sound.) Considering how few people work on it and do so in their free time, I couldn't have expected any better. It is great for pre-alpha software. I am very much impressed. Internet access is great and I'll be sold (using it) in a few years or so pr...
