I just tried out the new kqemu on a windows host. I had to compile a CVS version of qemu to use it. ROS as a guest OS is not compatible with kqemu1.3.0pre5 on a windows host. If you do the full kernel code virtualization, not even linux would work with it. I have had better luck with previous versio...

Wow, that's very impressive that you got two directx9 games working.

I assume you have the nvidia drivers installed?

And seeing a screenshot of them doing 3d rendering would be nice.

Yes, every operating system that is supported by qemu can run on it's Mac OS X powerPC version, I believe, and ReactOS has long been supported by qemu. This is something we have known for a while, but we are glad to see that you are discovering it. In case you are interested, this is a 100% free way...

The difference between the "eval" (I always call it the regular Suse since it is a complete freely distributable distro that most people would use) and opensuse is about a dozen proprietary packages. Can you please list the supposedly big difference between the regular boxed suse and the eval?

I'm pretty sure the dual-layer DVD will boot fine.

Keep in mind that Suse 10.1 will be out in a month or two (it's in beta now.) Nevertheless, the manual won't be too different.

JWK, glad to help. If you do decide to go with suse, remember that you can download the regular version of Suse 10.0 with the proprietary software on it like flash player and java. No you can't. See my previous post. There is an FTP install method, but it's not ideal. Yes you can, I'm using it right...

I know that no assembly stealing has actually been proven, and that many people are blowing this out of proportion on the forums, but exactly what people have left the project or suspended working on the project because of this?

Re: pre-packaging open source games

Floyd wrote:i would like to see wesnoth online (www.wesnoth.org) and galaxy mage (www.galaxymage.org) be pre-packaged in with reactOS. they're awesome games.
Large and multiple games will be something for the distros. The base ReactOS is intended to have about the amount of stuff as Windows itself.

Im talking about .7z file specificly, they are _highly_ compressed. Ive had computers because unusable while uncompressing .7z files. Any modern OS should handle CPU resources so that even if something wants 100% usage like a 7z extractor, it will not block other apps from working. Besides, it only...

Because of the limited software working on ReactOS (like no firewall) and the bugs, I suggest you don't use ROS as a primary OS yet. I strongly suggest you try out the suse 10.0 live DVD and see if your sound card is supported in it. Just boot it up, log in, open up the KDE menu, go to system, yast,...

Yeah, 7-zip uses up alot more resources than other compression utilities, but consider these statistics on my athlon 64 3000+ machine: compressing 20935 iso: 18 seconds decompressing: 2 seconds size uncompressed: 17.4 megs size compressed: 13.1 megs I'm pretty sure: -the server or workstation can af...

What I'm surprised about is that this is big enough news to almost stop development, but I can't find stuff about it on the mailing list (the archives) like these. http://www.reactos.org/archives/public/ros-dev/2006-January/date.html http://www.reactos.org/archives/public/ros-general/2006-January/da...
